Could it be Tigridia Pavonia? Whatever it is - it's beautiful!  :)

Grandma,it looks like you are "spot on" with your naming the flower.

I was searching through all my books for about an hour early this morning without any luck.

Now I look up Tigridia Pavonia and I see it.

Beautiful flower.

Hello and wellcome Ericaeous, the flower's only last a day and it's only had 2. :'( Thanks for the id ma ducks i now know its a bit on the tender side to go in my Nottingham garden so will have to keep in it's pot.
