Title: Topical tips
Post by: cleo on August 10, 2007, 16:22:11
The first fig was ready today and others will follow fast-keep an eye out if yours are near as a very ripe one will attract wasps quicker than an insect falls into a cold beer.

Hazel/Cob nuts are getting close and the squirrels are active-if they are a problem take some nuts now and they will ripen off the tree.

After all this rain we are in a semi dry spell so keep the leeks, celery and celeriac well watered

So far our figs are getting divided 50% us and 50% the enemy... ???

They have all developed from this year's buds since none of last year's buds have survived.

It's often best to take off any little buds in Nov so that the start is earlier... we've been eating fresh figs for at least three weeks... certainly this far North!
