My Boothby's Blonde is looking very strange. It has loads and loads of flowers but the stem has flattened out and is about an inch wide- is this normal? Meanwhile, my other plant (crystal apple) has lots of flowers, a normal stem and one fruit at the top- how do I know when to pick it? It's very pale green, oval and about 3-4" long.
Don't know what you've done to the Boothby's but mine haven't flattened out in the stem..
Picking either once you think it is big enough to eat but before they develop dark yellow markings... means the seeds are going hard!
;D
an inch sounds very wide, but I know all those squash-cucumber types do get flat wide stems, that seem split. Never seems to do them any harm.
Noticed the bottom leaves on the Boothby's are getting mildew as well today. :(
Mine have had it for weeks Caroline, take off the worst and they are good for at least a month yet!
Got two great cucs today!
;D
Am just starting to harverst my marketmore cucumbers from the allotment where they are left to do their own thing. My crystal lemon though is in a large pot on my sunshine flooded patio getting lots of pampering and although there are loads of tiny fruit none of them seem to be swelling into lovely edible cucs. Any ideas where I have gone wrong?
If you have the small ones it is only a matter of time... this time next week if kept well watered..
;D
Thanks for the encouragement, saddad.
I have only 3 lemon cucumbers per plant, they are between golf and tennis ball size when should I pick them. Catz maybe you should sacrifice some of the fruit so the others grow, just an idea wait for other replies though. ;D ;D ;D
Tennis ball is plenty big enough Kev...
;D
Cheers Dad. ;D ;D ;D
