Title: Apples
Post by: shirlton on August 07, 2007, 07:30:13
where can I get some apple trees from. I really want bramleys but you have to have 2 pollinators with them. I don't mind paying a bit extra than I would say at Wilkies as long as I get some good ones. (preferably that will fruit next year) pmsl

Ken Muir's is supposed to be good and Brogdale also supply trees. Having looked at the trees sold cheaply in Wilkinson's, Woollies, B&Q etc. I would not recommend them if you want a tree which will fruit soon after planting. they are usually 1 year maidens, so you have a 4 year wait for fruit.
Even then, buying from a specialist firm, you may still have to wait a few years before they fruit. The tree will not go into production until it is well settled and growing properly and mature.

I've found Ken Muir very helpful over the years.

Garden Centres? Many of the trees in our local Burford Garden Company are covered in fruit so, with great care in the move, yes, they should fruit next season.
