Title: Tomatos
Post by: lorna on August 04, 2007, 15:04:00
First time I have grown toms outside and yes they have got blight! Only one plant ok think it is called fermline. That's it I will stick to greenhouse ones in future. I do have 5 plants on other side of the garden and so far they look ok.

Good to hear that Ferline's resistance is not just an ad stunt.

The jury is still out on Ferline-Those on GQT(Mr Flowerdew) didn`t find any notable resistance but if it works for you then keep on growing it.

And this year was truly awful, don`t give up on growing toms outdoors as well as under cover.

Like the avatar Tim-a proper gent :)

Tim I did google Blight and the article mention that Fermline seems to be resistant. I have got rid of blighted plants and will keep an eye on Fermline.

Cleo. You are right I shouldn't give up growing toms ouside. I do have very limited area for a few veg and thought I would like to try toms outside. Just a gut reaction when I saw the result of blight ;D Never seen it before but having read threads on A4A it was a definite.

Stephan - consider yourself one of the favoured few - I don't wear a coat more than twice a year. And then mostly to funerals! But as said, this time I was paid for it!
