Title: Spring chicken at keeping chickens
Post by: helenruss on July 31, 2007, 18:18:33
Ive have a newly acquired plot and i really want chickens. several people on our site have both chickens and turkeys. Some coops have sloping roofs some do not. After hours spent building a 6ft by 5ft by 3ft high flat roofed coop my next door neighbour said "you are going to put a sloped roof on that arnt you"....................  My question is do i need to have 1 and if so why?

Many thanx in advance   ??? ???  ;D

No idea other than so the rain runs off - maybe your neighbour has something against flat roofs but I don't think chickens mind ehatever shape the roof is as long as it keeps them dry & Mr Fox out.  :)

Chickens dont mind but its so rain runs off and not stays to rot the wood. If you can raise one end by and couple of inches that should do.
