Saddad, this may sound like a very odd request, but can you post a piccie of hedgehog poo please   ::)

I think there is one hanging about my yard at night, but all I ever see is the leftovers, I think.  Either that or the resident frog is eating far too much for his size.

Hi HH poo looks like a squeeze of toothepaste but black. I leave a bowl of sunflower hearts & 2 bowls of water in the carport but they still go looking for more. Yesterday I found a huge poo under the sunflower bird feeder.

May I hijack this thread with my own "Pooh spotting" ?.   In our garden we have many species of British wildlife, and are very proud of this and encourage allcomers.

We'd never seen HHs around, but expected that the area was suitable.  Now, I may have proof - I'm hoping you "Spotters" can verify my um, finding.

Here are picts.   Yes it is what I would expect "black toothpaste" to look like  :)

 ;D ;D ;D

All I can say Riffster is your chaps appear to be better fed than mine!  Or maybe my beastie can't hold on that long between going.

Oh my, how did my life come to this point - years of education & training, professional qualifications, respect from my peers.  Now swapping comments on HH poo.  Nurse!  My pills please.

I agree with froglets: that's a LOT of poo for one hedgehog!!!
I'm no expert, but all the hedgehog poo I've ever seen is black and quite dry looking, and about 1/4 the quantity!

The stuff I got was in one strip and not curled... suggests it has travelled/fallen further... could that be fox poo?
:-\

Saddad, that's what I see in my yard & while we have had occassional sightings of hedgehogs, the dogs a few doors away either side would have gone mental if we had foxes, so I'd say you & I have hedgehogs, Riffster has a monster  ;)

That poo is nothing like the 'poo' I find in/on my garden/paths etc.  Too much poo there.  Wonder what it is tho?  I shall edit this later with a pic of my hedgehog 'doings'   LOL  a new word sh*t.

;D ;D

I don't think that is HH poo. My daughter is sat beside & thinks it could be fox poo. She is slightly bemused at her mother  though, describing HH poo on the tinternet.
I have aload in the carport so I will photo it & get OH to post it for me.

Thanks guys for the thoughts.  It is most possible Fox then - we have a huge fox population around.   I see the fox around,  and it appears bigger. But the obvious thought occurred to me.

My "Monster" "Numbers" are a young fox I expect.

:-) Thanks all.

Still hoping for HH though.   Am going to google now to see if Foxes are predators of the HH.    That'll completely explain no HH if that is the case.

Apparently they pee on them to make them unroll, then get them. That's the story, anyway; I haven't seen it.

Foxes kill hedgehogs by sticking their snout into the join between nose and rump.  Badgers kill alot of hedgepigs.

Foxes doin's are about 3" long and tapered, with a twist.  As for slashing on them....................................

I bought cat food today for the first time this summer to feed the hedgehogs.  I been putting out dried supplement that you can buy at garden centres.  Well tonight, word must have got out in the hedgehog world cos I have had 2 adults eat and now i see 2 babies at the food.  Wonder how many are out there.   I removed paper stuck to one of the hedgehogs spikes.   ;D ;D

When I unrolled a plastic sheet on a raised bed on the lottie earlier in the year I found a nest with 5 young hogs. I also sighted one for the first time in my home garden whilst out slug hunting this week
