Title: Brass cleaning.
Post by: lorna on July 28, 2007, 12:44:16
I have an old lion head heavy brass door knocker. (seem to remember Trixie has one?) I use it as a door stop. I have cleaned it with brasso but still doesn't clean up really well. Any suggestions folk?

use washing powder (same stuff you used on clothes) if you can soak it for a couple of hours then fine but thats what i used when i had brass.

It does depend on if your brass has a coating i believe.

Thanks Wilko, another one to try, brass cleaning day tomorrow. The knocker part and the "high" parts of the lion head shine up OK but it's the lower sort of dished parts of the mane  that I can never seem to get right. Will let you know.
