Title: Rain and Floods etc...
Post by: Garden Manager on July 23, 2007, 12:41:36
As a gardener the wet weather this summer had caused all sorts of problems, poor growth, waterlogged pots, slug and snail plagues (not to mention the depression resulting from being stuck inside when i want to be gardening). However this pales into insignificance compared to the problems experienced by all those poor people hit worst by all the flooding around the country, loosing fresh water, power and property.

When i see all the images of the floods I thank my lucky stars that I do not live near a river or on a flood plain. I might moan about living/gardening on the side of a hill, but at least when it rains the water tends to run away rather than accumulate.

Has anyone got any personal tales of the flooding that they are willing to share with us?

Personally lucky here in North Hants but have friends struggling to keep floods at bay north of Upton on Severn, marooned in Herefordshire and in all kinds of chaos in  Gloucestershire. Thanking our lucky stars and looking in horror at emailed pictures! Due to be in the Cotswolds tomorrow but unsure whether that's feasible. And it's raining again........

Best wishes to all those affected....
