Call me confused, but my Earlies Red Duke of York (presumeably from drinking too much in all of his pubs) have buds but no flowers. My Nicola, 2nd earlies planted at the same time, have flowers. One of my maincrop planted weeks later has flowers.
I'm confused about what to pull and what to leave?
Jeremy
Ours have no flowers but, as you may have seen in a photo, we've been lifting them for some time. If you leave them too long, you'll be eating 'bakers', rather than 'new'. Anya, next in line, also without flowers, but fine to eat.
Take a peek? = Tim
I'm glad to hear you say that Tim. I really want to harvest mine (mostly to see if they've actually grown) but there are no signs of flowers. The first ones I put in have been in for 2.5 months, so it's about time now!
Tim,
I looked at one plant but mostly they still seemed small -so I'll leave the DoY a week or two.
It's the maincrop I'm not so sure about -should I just leave them until the foliage dies down -even if they have flowered?
Jeremy
Not all spuds do flower, whilst others, such as Desiree, are covered in them
