I've heard it said that there are enough varieties of cabbage around to be able to harvest 365 days a year. Whilst I don't want to do this literally, does anybody have any 'out of season' favourites?
Geoff.
What do you count as 'out of season'??
It's a rare week when we haven't got a cabbage ready on the Lottie...
;D
i would love to do this and am working towards it any advise?
marg
Nice one Tim, hence the ' ' s. ;D I guess what I meant to ask without being too long winded about it was, which are anybody's favourites for which times of year?
Geoff.
I find that even the highly cracked up Tundra does not see us through the winter. And I'm too lazy to grow Spring cabbage.
Tundra is great but you need a savoy to follow on and a proper spring cabbage to tide over until the Minicole...
I've just sown some more greyhound as I like to keep my ground covered in veg I prefered that cabbage to offenham as a spring cabbage.
Saddad we had a minicole that you send me seeds for very nice indeed had half as coleslaw.
I just do the usual but have had cabbage now since March and plenty more growing on.
Beat me to it on the Greyhound :)
Have tried Puma this year - tolerates close planting if you want smaller cabbages. Good flavour.
I have just bought some winter varieties and I am planning to plant them from seed today.
How do you ensure you have all year cabbages? So what are peoples planting plan for all-year cabbage?
How? In my humble opinion, you can't!!
