I have had my plot for 8 weeks, it had been unused for 2 yrs and was covered in plastic to stave down the weeds. Iv managed to dig over a 3rd of it and have successfully planted a few things(Toms, runners, courgettes,carrots,cauli) but am now lost as to what to plant/sow/do with it now... Help!! ???
We are still sowing lettuce,beetroot ,khol rabi ,dwarf french beans and marrows, on the flower front sweet williams,
brompton stocks and Icelandic poppies to flower next spring. In October for overwintering, sweet peas in cold frame and on plot
broad beans ,peas and onion sets ( check varieties). If you look at the Organic gardening catalogue web site it is quite good
at 'what to do now'. Good luck!
Being similarly new and clueless, I'm bunged in small amounts of radishes and salad leafs every week as these tend to grow quickly and easily - thus giving fast results and keeping me interested while I await the other stuff to emerge.

hiya, helenruss, welcome aboard, we're sowing various chinese leaves and mouli radish every 3 weeks, they love this weather ;D
also, cabbage and small cauli for overwinter

Hello Helenruss... loads of things to sow. Try Chichory, Endive and Winter Radish (it's hot grated raw but cooks up like turnip/swede) Even carrots can be sown up to the end of August... if the winter is mild they grow on really late..

Hi Helenruss, welcome to the site, well you have your plot at the right time of year, you'll be able to prepare the soil and site well for next year, you can clear all weeds, double dig the site, add loads of well rotted manure, and to draw up your site for planting, what you want to grow, make out your beds, (raised are better, if you can afford to build them, they help with drainage, they will have more soil for a deeper root run) try to keep to a crop rotation if possible, this will help with double digging, adding of manure, as some plant need manure when growing like potatoes, runnerbeans, helps hold moisture and other don't like fresh manure, like carrots & parsnips they fork or twist, and make to much top growth if planted on fresh manure, but most of all have fun, plant what you want to grow, make small beds then you can grow more type of crops, make loads of compost heaps, get loads of waterbutts, ::) ;D ;) ;) some body stop me, i could go on for ever ::) ;D
