Today is the last day of my holiday and I will be back in Liverpool tonight.
I shall be up at first light to go to the plot to see if :-
1. The blight has moved to the Maincrop (I cut the other tops off).
2. Carrot fly have eaten the carrots.
3. The shed has been broken into or burned down.
4 The runner beans have been blown over.
5 The polythene has been ripped off the greenhouse.
6. The slugs and snails have rampaged through everything.
Why do we do this to ourselves?

Well I hope you find your plot in a better condition than mine!!
I walked off it in disgust this morning it was diseased from end to end.
Strawberries........virused all will have to be destroyed and a new bed established.
Early potatoes not a haulm in sight.
Maincrop potatoes laid flat with blight
Chrysanthemums 20% eaten by rabbits
Onions & Shallots.......Mildewed tops are all grey and crumpled.
French beans plenty tops but not flowering because of this foul weather, similarly Runner & Climbing french.
Sweet Peas have been virtually non existant
Lettuce are all leafy and not heartening
Shall I go on? :'(
On a good note everything under cover e.g. Tomatoes,Peppers Melons and Aubergines looks like being a bumper crop.................oops!! have I spoken too soon ???
