Post by: Barnowl on July 18, 2007, 17:44:36
The plant has been in this position for about two years. Suddenly this dead patch developed. - any suggestions?

Yes-take loads of cuttings from it. That does not look good

 ;D

Anything more constructive?  Have cut out all the dead and affected wood. We did have lavender beetles on it earlier on but I think we got most of them.

The branch may have been blown about in the recent weather & cracked down low.  The old stems get brittle & damage easily.  That would either cause the branch to die off or get infected & suffer.  If the rest of the bush is healthy, I'd let it be & keep an eye on it for any spread of disease & in the meantime, propogate some cuttings as an insurance policy

Cheers

OK - take cuttings and monitor.

Thanks all,
