I could cry...just heard a terrible shriek and saw a rat had got beautiful Woody Woodpecker. Rat let go when I threw stones and Woody got away but heaven knows in what state.
Bird table is no longer in use - have put the feeders much higher up in the trees on the edge of the woods. Not good viewing for me but much safer. I just hope Woody's Ok......
Nooooooo! Poor Woody (and you - must have been a bit of a hairy moment). I hope he's ok. :'(
Found a dead one on my allotment on Saturday, must have fallen on first flight. Rat got him too.
In Italy some young men wear woodpeckers scalps on their belts as a sign of virility.

That'd do it for me. :-\ Honestly, are the girls there that dense? Don't they know it's a Ferrari? ;D ;D ;D
I think that it looks more virile to have the bird on yer arm, that have the bird's scalp on yer belt.
Well A Woody has been back to the peanut feeder (now high in the tree), if it is the same one he's OK. I really, really hope so..........
Rat's still around....we are planning revenge.....
....Webley Rattattack, plus the requisite equipment, did the job nicely.....Woody and all the birds happy again!
Well done CotswoldLass Rat Killer! ;D
AWw....thanks Emmy, tho have to confess it was OH who did the bizz, but I'm in training in case it happens again! CLx
