Title: My first cucumber of 2007
Post by: Mrs Ava on July 09, 2007, 18:30:55
Marketmore I think it is.  Lemon cucumber/crystal apples were all scoffed by sluggies, so they were sown again and are still only just germinating.  These are doing well and are covered in fruits.  I picked LOADS today which you can see on my blog.  ;D

mine are still tiny babies - and I was quite excited to see them!

I think my seed compost was rubbish this year, everything was very small and slow to grow. I'm not going to buy cheap stuff next year.

very impressed with the cucumber!

Lovely cuke, EJ.

Pigeonseed, I had the same problem, and lost quite a few seedlings too, as they were so weak. I bought new stuuff and the difference was amazing. I have cukes in both types of compost, and the difference is startling.

I'm getting more cucumbers now. Even though they were off to a slow start, once they started getting good homemade compost and sunshine they started going wild.

It's lovely to see them all nestling

I've had 2 five inch burpless tasty cucumbers from 5 plants. (They are an outdoor variety). Me thinks not to bother with this kind again.

My chinese lemon cukes are by far the best producers. Hardly any from the others.I'm still waiting for a glut, as I want to try a cucumber relish. Maybe next year......
