We managed to get on the lottie today as the flood water had gone down and guess what ....all is not lost. Look at what we found in the raised beds , there was hardle any more mind you, but to was good to find something.
1. There are 3 very small lettuce hearts , a huge cucumber, an assotment of toms and just 3 spring onions.
2. A few carrots, little parsnips, a very small cabbage that happened to be in a raised bed as I ran out of room in the brassica patch, a few spuds from the early raised bed, a few small garlic, and 2 types of shallotts, the ones on the left are cats tongue and the huge ones on the right that look like onions are a no name brand grown fro ASDa shallotts when I couldn't get any others from T&M. They are really good, isn't life funny.
All my shallotts made it through the flood, in their own bed!!
3. We even found some raspberries and strawberries to make a dessert.
I felt better today mind you this is all there is but...what the heck...we got a harvest!!

Any luck with your white carrots?
Gary
Hi Gary they are still in there but not ready. The white ones were in the raised bed that moved across the lottie about 4 feet still with it's soil, John and I pushed it back today still with foliage sticking up but not as far on, and a lot of the soil had washed away from under it. We have left the plants in there to see what happens next. It was a later planting of carrotts including your Mums white ones, parsnip, salsify and beets, some of course have gone but most are still there, I must have floated I guess but the foliage looks fine.
How are things at your end ?
XX Jeannine
Hi J,

Cambourne7
Really happy for you Jeannine - enjoy.
Tricia
hows your squash and pumpkins??
Hi Jeannine,
Last time I was up the plot they were still doing back stroke, so am intrested to see how yours come on.
Gary
That's a sight for sore eyes Jeannine. Enjoy your feast. ;D
No squash and pumpkins, the two that were in the ground perished and the ones I had resown after the vandals never got out, I still have them hanging in in 3 inch pots but they are over a foot tall and the ground is still too water logged to plant them. Not for us this year I fear.

sorry to hear about that Jeannine
Really pleased that your spirits have been lifted, Jeannine - and makes me appreciate how lucky we have been compared to you and others who have been flooded. Fingers crossed for the stuff still growing.
Like everyone else, Jeannine, I'm so pleased that you and John have managed to salvage something. The best thing about your little harvest is that it's bringing you some happiness and hope - as well as a few tasty meals. Take care. xxx
I'm really delighted to see that you have some reward for your efforts. Didn't see this post yesterday because I was too busy to get to the PC.
