Well folks, due to flooding ,weather, early blight etc I now feel just as though it is the end of the year and am thinking of what to plant for next year. There is a feeling of closure for this season so time to start planning.Might cheer me
It is a time of the year I enjoy so am going there early this year!!
So what will I plant this coming Spring,or perhaps what will I do differently.
Tons of new tomatoes and squash but how do I choose from such a long list.
Experiment planned. I am going to try some indeterminate tomatoes without pruning, I have always done so in the past, but time for a new thought. Many folks in the US do it and get huge yeilds so I am ready for next year.
Cut down on the types of Cukes, stick to a couple, I enjoy watching them grow but realistically some are better then others.
Triple disinfect the greenhouses this year I think, I might use a bomb too, just to make sure there is nothing in there to invade my plants.
Add another 3 raised beds to plot1.
Put up the little greenhouse that has sat here in bits all year.
Do a really serious Okra planting if Cleo will carry his offer over to the next season.
Organise a really early seed swap.
Plant my onion seed on time, now that will be a first!!
Discard my gooseberry bushes, they are just not worth the space they take up.
Discard my globe artichokes for the same reason.
Try to get the full length pavers down the last side os the lottie.
Perhaps put a central path down each lottie too and plant each side rather than in 24 foot rows, put up the new raised beds to follow this.
Make a plan on paper of what is going where and make a sowing and planting list too AND stick to it.
Cut down on the number of squash and don't plant too early.
Br ruthless with the number of tomato plants OR make a plan to sell plants of some of my rare ones.
Perhaps sell some rarer squash and tomato seeds on ebay,,or perhaps not????
Don't buy seeds unless needed for something.
I think that is a good start and I feel better already, how about you.
XX Jeannine
Just reading that makes me feel better. :) I think that is what I am needing to do as well. Think August on.. and forget about this year's debacle.
Just shows, you cannot keep a good gardener down.
Jeannine That sounds good to me. Lovely to read about your positive attitude after all you are going through.
Lorna.
THAT'S THE SPIRIT GAL ;D
Not sure about the 'not buying seeds unless needed' resolution though ;)
