Howdy doody,
Can you help?
Do any of you belong to an allotment association that manages the site but the Parish or Town Council still hold responsibility for the land?
Could I possibly get on the phone to you and ask you some questions about management agreements between the two parties?
The reason being Myself and Bunjies are still fighting the good fight regarding getting lotties for our village. We have the land but have a Chair of PC who is trying to get one of us to sign a lease for responsibilty for the entire land!
They can't or won't get their head around a general agreement/licence to allow us onto the land. They are insisting on this thinly disguised management agreement which is actually a lease.
Our group has voted to become a sub-committee of the PC which was offered as a solution. Now we have agreed to do this we are getting stonewalled.
Could anyone please give me any pointers?
Could email me your details on my pm and I will ring you at a time that is good for you?
Any help would be great.
from missie
Until I gave it up earlier this year, I was a Town Councillor and on the Allotments Committee. We had a management agreement which works particularly well - members of the Allotment Association (Chair, Secretary and one member) were also part of the Committee and everything works well with patience! The AA collect the Rents, a percentage of which goes to the Town Council, the TC sets a budget for necessary works from the Council Tax precept. TC pays insurance, water rates, skip hire, hedgeing, repairs etc and also gives the AA support when there are difficult tenants by 'managing' the rules with regular inspections.
if you want to e-mail me, I can put you in touch with the Town Clerk who I am sure will be able to let you have a model agreement, although ours was almost a copy of the National Association model. :) :) :)
