Title: Spots on cucumber leaves
Post by: broad beannie on July 03, 2007, 12:47:16
I am growing a couple of cucumber plants on my window and although they seem to be doing ok the leaves have developed white mouldy type spots that brush off when wiped.
Any idea what is up with them and will it affect my plant?

Tracey  :D ???

I get this too but it's never affected the cucumbers so I've just ignored it.  I'm very much a "it'll either grow or it won't" kind of gardener!  ;D

Mine seems to be a mildew sort of powder which I've assumed it something to do with ventilation - could be totally wrong though so will watch for a more professional reply! ;D

I had/have this too.... I worried and fretted and stressed about it for a while, wondering if I was over or under watering them or if they were effected by the plague...

Then I realised that the cucumbers themselves were still growing and looked fine so I decided to ignore it... Hey presto, it still comes and goes but I've been eating home grown cucumbers happily for a few weeks now and they taste great! So I think it's safe to say you can ignore it... :)

ooo, I've had this too, but had assumed it was because I've got my pots sitting on builders sand and thought it was the salt being drawn up by the roots.  Also, a couple of my leaves have gone yellow mottled - have given them some seaweed extract to see if it'll help things.
