Title: Apples and pears
Post by: SueSteve on July 01, 2007, 18:27:27
We would like to plant some small fruit trees in the garden, can anyone recommend any varieties?
The space we have is a raised bed of 40cm x 220m with trellis along the back, we would like to have them as espaliers.
Can anyone advise on planting distances and any other info?
Cheers,
Sue

Thanks Saddad.
We get through so many apples, so it would be nice to have something that would have a good yield, although quiet small trees.
It would be nice to store them, although I dont think we would have any left to store! We usually eat at least 15 apples a week. We just thought as we can fit them in it would be nice to have a few of our own!
We eat fewer pears, but when they are in season, and nice ripe and juicy we tend to get though around 6 a week!
Cheers,
Sue
