dead chuffed with them , we've had really lousy germination rates before but, we pre germinated these, first ones..the others are rapidly catching up ;D
I know it's early but we've already started having them roasted :P
They look great manics. We grow a lot of things in containers, but have never given parsnips a thought. We love them roasted, particularly the blessed Delia's recipe in her Christmas cookbook.
How deep is the container you grow them in?
Certainly thinking of giving them a go next year, based on your picture.

the one you can see is a freebie from a mate, it's only about 10" tall, on flags, poor things,
the rest are in the green mesh covered bed next to them on ground so they should be spectacular..we're growing them under cover as some of ours got riddled, maybe with carrot fly?..the year before last, last year, none grew :( ;D
Wow! Mine have only recently germinated!!
thought I'd try some in a pot on the patio - just put 2 seeds in a pot about 8" high by 6" diam......thought I'd be grateful for even only small....both have germinated - one has 'taken off' and growing well, the other is a weedy looking thing so maybe will remove it and let other have the space!
will they still germinate if sown now please? might try a few more in a bigger pot (if I can squeeze one in)
Have got them coming thru spasmodically at the lottie tho!
H.P.
My ones that have come up are going along nicely, not as big as your ones though Scousers, sowed some more and some have come up but not all of them, the ones I pre germinated on tissue and planted never come up at all. ??? ;D ;D ;D
these are from 19p seeds from netto, can't believe it, and we got about 85% germination .. :)
hp, if it was me, and I could add a bit of cover later on, I'd have a go..seed needs to be new every year so, use it up ;D..you might get some nice little or not so little ones :)
Mine look ok, in pots just now and planning on leaving them there till harvest ;)
