Title: Chilli plants
Post by: Greenfingers Jo on June 26, 2007, 13:00:56
Hi Guys,
I am posting this on behalf of a friend. She is growing a chilli on a window sill at work and it is now about 3 foot high.

Should she pinch out the leader shoot to force it to fruit?

Thanks
Jo

No leave them as then your have fruit coming all over like a bush. My one inside isn't fruiting either but the one in the greenhouse is.

Thanks.
The problem is that a lot of the flowers are at the top and therchilli plant is still going upwards!
How high will it get?
Jo

Hi greenfingers, sounds like a sturdy plant your friend has got.  If it is in flower now,  this is the time to give it some shade from the sun.  The buds will drop off and the fruits will burn through the window if the temperature reaches more than 30c, but saying that, this summer has been crap so far so there may be no harm done.  Chuffa,

3ft is the normal maximum that most chilli plants will grow.

What fertiliser / plant food is she using?
