Title: goosegogs
Post by: nitiram on June 23, 2007, 17:25:08
Overnight something has eaten nearly all the leaves from the goosegog bush, fruit untouched , just the leaves stripped bare. What the heck is it and how can I get rid of it?

I`d bet it`s sawfly-the grubs do that. Google it to see ways and means?

does sound like sawfly they stripped my bushers last year while i was away but i this year i sprayed with liquid derris plus which is a natural pesticide and the bushes are untouched and i have been eating them today.

Oh no Tee Gee.  I popped to the allotment today with mum so she could pick some strawbs, and I was having a chat to old Jack and he said for the first time ever, in all his 60 odd years having an allotment, his goosegogs have been either nicked or eaten!  Mine are under netting and are just starting to ripen, in dappled shade so take a bit longer than the norm.  I also noticed my leaves are now being scoffed by sawfly.  Not overly worried as the fruit will be picked soon.
