I thought it might be fun to show some pictures of us all as kids or when we were younger
Me with my first dog Bob,
Note the very blond hair, just starting to curl, about 1944 something like that, clothes on ration.XX Jeannine pretty old well handled photo.
XX Jeannine aged about 2
Jannine, can't believe that photo. Our dog at home was your dogs twin and his name was Bob!! He died at age of 14. OK will take up your challenge but may have to get my John to scan some pics as my old pics are in frames or albums. This thread could be a scream!! ;D
Here we go. Sisters wedding taken 1943 I am one of the b ridesmaids, guess which one ;D
Quite like this one.

Me aged 6. The other kids used to call me Pipi Longstocking.

I had an aunt who liked to knit ;D!
The photos are great! Bet you are the little un with the smile on your face Lorna. Tim, your mother is so elegent, and loved the rest of those little faces, what gorgeous hair Dandelion. Here is me when I was three. It was before colour photographer was widespread, and when they had to colour the pics in by hand. Men were always coming around the doors and taking photographs. My mother said I hated them all and always looked very suspiciously at them, so on every photo when I was little I was scowling. Me and my elder brother had just been to a birthday party and had cake in our hands. ;D busy_lizzie
Your avatar doesn't do your hair justice, Dandelion.
None of us look underfed, do we!
I just love this thread. Jean you are correct I am the smallest bridesmaid. All bridesmaids are my sisters (only one sister missing)
It's such a long time since I've tried posting a picture and have only done one or two before so this might not work....

it's me and my brother taken about 1943 I think - I'm just over 2 and he's 8 months!
I can't see anything yet but assue picture appears after posting ???
H.P.
Oh dear - I got it wrong - not sure what I've done (or not done) can't remember what I should do either!
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
I just copied the picture from my computer and uploaded it to Photobucket then copied it including the URL then pasted it here - obvious wrong!
I'm wondering if it's because I've not paid Dan the £10. (assume it's still that amount).......forgot to do it especially as I rarely post pics. Maybe a 'block' is put on you if you've not paid - could that be it do you think please?
got his address somewhere if I can find it - will send the money off then at least I'm covered for the odd times I want to add a pic.
H.P.
You've already got mine, that's me on your left. Think it's in sepia, taken with an old box Brownie!
This is me aged 4 in the garden when we were living in Asmara. I loved climbing trees, and I'm looking happy because I'd just climbed that tree !!! (Not very high, but it was a long way for me - I remember it well)

Oh thank goodness it's worked - looked out the original instructions I had from Palustris back in August 2006 when I first tried to post pics....went thru it all slowly and bingo!.....success at last :)
so relieved..........must get in touch with Dan for his address again - seem to have mislaid it and havn't paid him any money to allow me to do this :-[

Asbean.. what about my poor Mum...9 of us. Taken 1945/1946 when my eldest brother was demobbed from the army.

Perhaps to save our eyes ;D ;D ;D ;D
Only kidding ;)

Nine is a lot of children. When I was small I stayed with a family with 12 children (there were 13 but one died). Coming from my little family of my older sister (8 years older than me) and my older parents (my mother was 44 when she had me) it was quite a shock. There were so many children, I was surprised they didn't have roll=call twice a day. Mealtimes were chaos, or so it seemed to me, and bedtime was like boarding school was years later. Quite an experience. :)
here's one to give you a bit of a laugh - I'm in Swedish National Costume
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l264/maggiemay_07/scaninNationalCostumewornatRoyalAlb.jpg)
I was about 12 at the time and had recently danced at the Royal Albert Hall with my dancing School in a National Dancing Competition. My Mum insisted on taking this photo in our garden (got another one of me in Norwegian costume - wearing an awful hat!)
Me up front with a brother, and another behind with the rest of the gang. ;D
I think I might shoot my mother for this fringe.
;D
(http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l198/missusKP/fda8ff53.jpg)
Haha KP. I had a card fom a daughter with a pic of girl with similar fringe and her hand up. The caption said ' hands up if your Mother thinks she's a hairdresser'. ;D ;D ;D
I am. ;D ;D ;D
These are all great photos.
Tim, I'm another who thinks your mother looks so beautifully elegant.
Lurve the fringe KP hee hee!
Absolutely love looking at these photos.
Here's me. Running around in my drawers and the other a school pic at five years old.
Heldi! So sweet! Tim's pic is just superb. I don't have any from when i was little.
My mum cut my fringe by combing half of my hair over the front of my face and then hacking wildly at it with bluntish scissors. Always had the slopy fringe. ::)
I am so glad I started this post, the pictures have been just smashing, I keep looking back at them trying to find a favourite but it is impossible. Tims Mum is really lovely, just look at that waist.I adore the kids on the train too, but they are all so good. I need to go through mine more often I think.
I have one of me somewhere when I was abput 10 months pregnant in one of those awful floral smock things, and with a skirt too.
Perhaps we could move up in our age ranges and put ourselves on again as young adults or being silly. I have a few of those.
Keep them coming, they are really special.

ARRRRRGGGH,the dreaded red X
You could sell that school picture to one of those companies who make modern greetings cards, I am stuck for choice as to what caption they would put underneath it. It is absolutely priceless XX Jeannine

marg
Love your pic Fork, what a lovely look....
anyway here I am in 1951... the little garden girl, and then again in Australia in 1971 with my first bike... still have a bike but its a bit more modern!! Oh and that's how I used to ride then... no protective clothing, no gloves or boots and flared trousers that flapped in the breeze!

That photo was taken 45 years ago........and butter still wouldnt melt ;D
6 years old & our first use of colour - 1969 & all dressed up for the Gala Day at Galashiels. Maybe I should take this pic to the hairdresser's tomorrow for inspiration - NOT.

Your turn Jeannine ;D
The Girls .... the Girls - bad for my heart!!
I remember you Froglets, bonny lass o' Galae Water, but where is your Rosette. Are you coming up for this weeks celebrations? ;) ;) ;)
Do you really want me as a middle aged woman in baby doll PJs with my hair in bunches hugging a Teddy???
Ah Jeannine you just have to now. Tim may have to avert his eyes ! ;D Or concentrate on the teddy !
Hiya Carol,
I still have my rosette, although I did chop one of the tail to tie round my case handle so I'd recognise it at baggage reclaim.
Sorry, won't be coming up this weekend, mum is too busy to see me - playing at a major bowls match in Ayr - Scottish Ladies Triples final I believe.
Was never too keen on horses anyway & have split loyalties - my uncle was Standard Bearer at The Cleikum so we used to support Innerleithen Games really.
Looking at that picture I realise gravity has dragged those chubby cheeks downwards & deposited them on my hips!
"There's lassies rare abun Traquair & bonny yina awa by Fala, but ne're a lass tho 'er sea rare, can match the ane that bides in Gala"

I'm going to try and find one of me but I think I was born before camaras ;D
9, 13 children? My hubby is one of 15 and they all lived.
I am one of only 2, so I found it totally overwhelming and confusing the first time he "took" me home ;D
My parents were tens and twelves, but they didn't all live, TB and two world wars saw off some.. I'm one of five...
:-X
