As you all know Jeannine closed her topic, but I think I have enough seeds to start this swap. So if people still want to take part, please let me know and PM me your postal details, so that we can start as soon as possible.
Kind Regards,
Natasha
I'm in ;D put me last though cos im in Spain, don't want to hold things up!
I will come in too, perhaps early on as I do have quite a lot I can add in as a supplement, just not a lot on it's own. XX Jeannine
Hello
Count me in too ;D
Cheers
Brogusblue
Me too please, have pm'd.
Gosh, guys,
so many replies,
you are all in!
I've got a couple of emails asking me what to put in the parcel. So I think it will be nice for all of us to decide what the swap is about.
My suggestion is:
1 Traditional stuff, seeds which you can start from now on, for harvesting later this year or during cold months. Of cause most of the seeds in the parcel will be traditional, but they won't have to be.
2 Autumn sowing stuff (if the seedlings are strong enough to overwinter in a cold frame without hitting for an earlier start next year, may be they should be in), it might be herbs, veg, berries or flowers beneficial for our lotties.
I started some flowers, herbs and berries last year in October at home and moved them into my unheated green house as soon as they germinated, where they overwintered perfectly well, should such seeds be in?
I'm looking forward to your input.
Thank you.
I'm still waiting for PMs from a couple of people who wanted to take part in Jeannine's winter swap, they might be away today or busy and it will be unfair if we start without giving them a chance to participate, so I plan to send the parcel to the first player on Tuesday.
I'd like to join in if I may. I have pm'd you.
yes good guide lines,i'll put in plenty of sweetpeas.
Creckless,

Hi Flo,
No, just 5 of us! And we are all veggie, so eat lots of veg!!! ;D
Our plot is tiny, thats all we have room for, and all crammed in! Have learned lots of lessons, but can make less mistakes next year! (and our rows are only 3m wide!!)
Sue
Ready, Steady, Go!
It's on it's way to one of you and I appologize if something is not up to standards, it is my first time playing the game, I know I should have tried it as a player first, but can't stop compulsive seeds-related behavior :P

Oh me. well I better get sorted at this end.
Any specific requests, gimme a clue here. What are you hoping for.
I have a goodly amount of seeds, too many for me,so yell out before it gets here.
Natasha, did yout tomatoes arrive yet??
XX Jeannine
Jeannine Hi
I do believe you have the odd seed or two! would that include mooli? I will be adding flowers sweet willies ,sweet peas etc
of to rummage thru me drawers ,actually it's 14 drawer card index cabinet and that does not include what is being sown this season.
Do you think there is a special retirement home where we will all meet up?
I got Mooli, I will pop some in
anything else ??
Oh Gosh,
Jeannine, I didn't know you sent me something. Thank you very much, I'm sorry I didn't reply to your PM earlier, I got a bit carried away with sorting out winter parcel seeds, are your tomato seeds already there?
Looking through the seed catalogue I am intrigued by wierd shaped and coloured veg!! e.g. white carrots, round courgettes, those green pointy caulis etc. I am also doing a list of things that I would like to try, that aren't very common - hamburg parsley, salsify, scozo (whatever), amaranth etc. So if anyone has any 'weird' seed that they have tried and decided to give up on, I would be interested.
Oh and one more, I love stripey pyjamas! I used to buy them locally, but havent seen any for a few years. I would like to grow some, but cant find the seed either.
Just a few ideas!!
(Not that its all winter, sorry)
Sue
Natasha, I don't think I did, that is my point,I couldn't remember if I had sent them or not,I think I was waiting to hear if Hillbilly's and Gypsy Pepper seeds was what you wanted or was there something else.Don't worry I will do them tomorrow. Your tomatoes seeds got here,I did let you know, but you have been so busy.XX Jeannine
Sue, I can put a bit of salsify, scorzo, white carrotts and yellow carrotts I don't have the other though. What about purple brussel sprouts and purple and orange cauli,I am not sure how much I have of those but I will try.
Just looking through my file,
Yellow beetroot,striped beetroot,black radish,red cabbage,black and red kale,rainbow chard,bulls blood greens.
I will put a selection of general winter stuff in too
XX Jeannine
Wow, that sounds interesting Jeanine, thank you ;D
I was telling my husband about all the 'interesting' veg, (going through the organic seed catalogue). His reply was, dont you want to grow normal stuff!!!
I said yes, but this as well, he laughed!!
Parcel arrived here this afternoon just after I got back from the lottie in tears, we have lost so much stuff in the flood that we thought was OK the other day.Much of what I was putting in the parcel is going to have to be replanted and until I can do it I am not sure what I have spare now.
I have sent the parcel on rather than hold it up , of course I have not taken anything out of it as that would be unfair,it is just as it arrived here.
When I get my head back on, I will figure out what I have spare and post them on the swap page.
Have fun looking through, I daren't look actually as I would have been tempted and then would have held everybody up and winter stuff you need to be getting in quickly. It should be with the next person on Saturday.
XX Jeannine
I will make a note of the couple of requests I had and get back to those folk as soon as I can.
XX Jeannine
So sorry for you Jeannine. :'(
I hope you manage to get some more late crops sown to cover at least some of your losses. I'll pray for a summer like last years, which lasted right through autumn....and then all your veg will have time to catch up. ;)
(((((May I suggest that we add Jeannine back onto the list further down the line....so maybe she will get the benefit of some of the later-crop seeds which will have accumulated in the parcel????))))
Oh Creckless, that is so sweet, but it is OK, I have enough I think , I just have to go through everything a bit more carefully, I didn't expect to be having to sow a whole bunch more as I was well ahead of things. I keep looking at the box with my seeds in and the enthusiasm that we feel at the start of a season just isn't there right now. I love to share my seeds, right now I don't even want to look at them.
I love that feeling of sorting and planning usually.
John and I have had a chat and we are wondering wether to even bother this year now, but I suspect we will feel differently in a few days.
That was a lovely thought, thank you, but there will be more swaps so not to worry.
XX Jeannine
Rain is forecast for the next 7 days here.
Natasha, I meant to put you toms and peppers in the parcel and completely
forgot, can you send me your addy again and I will pop them in the post as soon as I can.
Please dont give up this season, Jeannine!
I'm late sowing plenty of things this year, as I am doing a final year Open Uni course (which I'm also behind on!). But everything catches up nicely. My french beans sown 2 1/2 weeks ago look exactly the same as those sown 5 weeks ago. Not sure how it happened....but nature usually has a way of triumphing over adversity. ;D (but slugs and snails....well that's a different matter!)
Its not too late to sow many things. Give it a go. ;)
Jeannine ,come on girl, Yorkshire grit! all those seeds awaiting to do their bit for you. sow something today you will feel better for it.

Hello
Sow some seeds and will make you feel better and according to the weather forcast we should have a mini heatwave on the way believe it when the rain stops as "Creckless" said add your name later on in the list you know you want to, As you are the "Queen of the Seeds" and show some of that yorkshire spirit.
We all rooting for you Jeannine
Cheers
Brogusblue
Sorry to hear about your plants Jeannine. Please don't give up, I know it al looks bad now, but with your unusual enthusiasm I'm sure you can pull it off.
Sue
Jeannine - really sorry to hear about the floods and loss of your plants. I hope you have enough seeds and time to recover - if there is any late season seeds I amy be able to help with let me know.
I hope that the parcel is with Creckless now. Please, can you let us now how things are going. ;)
The seed parcel arrived yesterday afternoon. ;D
However, I've been plagued by a broken sewage pump station which has caused flooding in my garden and have been sand-bagging my veg bed to prevent contamination. :(
I'll sort through this evening an send the parcel on its way.
Sorry for the delay.
Oh Dear,
Creckless, I hope it is not as bad as it sounds and I hope that you'll enjoy the seeds in the parcel!
Kind Regards,
Natasha
The parcel was posted yesterday afternoon. It should arrive in Warwickshire today....and escape any delay due to the upcoming postal strike!
Enjoy!
Keeping a look out for it - didn't arrive this morning so I am hoping for Monday. ;D
I've just heard that there is a postal strike today, until midday, so I dont know if we will be getting any post today!!
Oh Dear, what a time to do the parcel. When I started it I thought it will be fun, but now with all this rain killing plants and postal strikes I don't think it brings joy to people.
:-[
you couldnt have known about the strike and the weather is obviously a law unto itself. these are wonky times, and getting anything nice inthe post these days is a joy. we will all have to be patient. it was and still is a good idea. :-*
Yes, we may be having bad weather and postal strikes, but the parcel will cheer us up!
Sarah and SueSteve,
Thank you for all your support. :-*
The parcel should be with you by now! ???
I'll ask my friendly helpful postie if he's any idea why its taking so long. (He is an absolute star....even personally redirects my mail to my mums house when I'm on my holiday)
Hope the parcel is not lost!!!
Hopefully it will just be the postal strike and dreadful weather that's caused the hold up. Fingers crossed.
Anyway, there's plenty of seeds in there that can be started off in July/August and beyond. ;)
No sign of the parcel yet - but on ordering things from ebay today there was a warning of postal delays due to combination of back log from strike and floods. I am off work tomorrow so will harass the post man. Ever since he delivered my sickle last week he has been very respectful!!
I am really looking forward to this Natasha - I love rummaging through different seeds and being able to try a few new ones. Thanks
8) Wishful thinking - does anyone know a sun dance
;D ;D ;D
My postie was rather worried about the Azada which he delivered to me last week....he said he felt like the grim reaper! ;D
There's a thought a vintage grass scythe would really give my postman the heebie jeebies.
But good news parcel arrived this morning so will rummage and swap quickly and try and get it in the post this afternoon or at the latest tomorrow morning to markfield rover.
8) hasn't rained here for a whole 12 hours! :o :o :o
That is a very good news! :) :) :)
Yippee! I will be dressed in the morning then, would not want to frighten postie or horses.
Thanks Suzanne it is here ,lovely! good to to see flowers too. It is useful to see some of the different seed companies
like the look of' Real seed'. Off for a rummage and will try to post on to SueSteve today failing that first thing Friday.
Thanks Natasha, what larks. Perhaps I ought to put my money where my mouth is and do a flower parcel !
Thanks Markfield rover.
It didnt arrive today, so I'll look out for it in the morning :)
Sorry did not make post office yesterday did not have car and with all the rain if I'd walked the seeds would
have germinated.Good news posted today 9am first class, in theory you are 40 mins away but the parcel will probably
go via Dundee. Your in for a treat, get all your little bags ready.
Morning,
I think the parcel has gone via somewhere!!
It didn't arrive yesterday, so I will look out for it tomorrow.
Sue
If it doesn't I have the certificate of posting!Fingers crossed.
WeyHey!!!
Got home, the seed parcel has arrived, and also on the doorstep was my 5free lavenders and 6 free climbers from Gardeners World Magazine :)
I will do 'my thing' with the seed parcel and get it back into the post after work tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks everyone
Sue
Hi,
The parcel is in the post, first class, can't remember the person I sent it to!!!!
But Barns rings a bell!!!

Will top it up and send on leter today or tomorrow morning.
Thank you
Sounds good, thank you.

... like what varietythey are and if they are a climber ... they are about 1" long ;D
Just thinking we could have a parcel that just goes round and round!!
people adding new bits to it all the time!
Well thinking about it, it would only work if we have spare seed! Well it's taken 2 months so far, and is half way round, so 4 months turn around. Do we get spare seed every 4 months?

It's not a bad idea, and we'll probably have such parcel, I like growing plants from seeds and I often have a little bit of this or that to spare.
Since the parcel started I was shopping for seeds twice!!! So I have now a tiny mimosa plant growing from seed!! I really wanted this one, it looks beautiful although the plant is still very small.
With the possibility of wyevale 25p a pkt seed sale on Bank hols weekend it would be the justification for popping along!
Hello
It's arrived :D :D Blimey it took long enough for a 13 mile trip :o :( I see why it took ages it was only posted on the 30 of July I thought CityChick was posting on the 19th or the 20th July according to her post on the 18th July. so panic over.
I will have a look and post on either saturday or monday as i am feeling under the weather.
I will post it to "Flowerlady" next another 17 mile trip down the road i wonder how long that will take. ;D
Cheers
Brogusblue
Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so pleased that it finally arrived at your place!
Bet it takes less time to get to me in Spain!!! ;)
Hello
Mega sorry "flowerlady" i have been i hospital just come out today i had a touch of food poisoning from a dodgy mcdonalds i had last thursday in london. i will post on friday
Please accept my appologies for holding up the parcel
Cheers
Brogusblue
Not to worry in the least little bit ... Oh dear poor you ... it's far more important that you are now better and fully recovered!
Anyway ... wonders never cease ... last night at 8 P.M. :o door bell went and I saw postie van driving away!!! Postie had dropped a parcel on the mat, rung the bell, and legged it !!!! ??? ::) ;D
So ... it will be on it's way again tomorrow ... in the direction of Essex ;)
Just to let you all know that the seed swap parcel arrived in Essex this morning - what a lovely selection.
I'll look through and post it on by the weekend at the latest.
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed.
Ann
Hi - lots of fun, really enjoyed the seed swap.
Posted the package last week - Imagine my surprise when it was returned to me today as 'damaged - returned to sender' as the delivery address had been (removed???? - no idea looked like water damage to me - seeds OK though!!!).
Package now on it's way (for a second time) to Rosyred.
Again many many thanks
Ann
Received today with thanks and posted off to Surbition. :)
Oh thanks Rosyred, I look forward to recieving it. :)
The parcel is now on its way to Sarah in Bournemouth. Great seeds by the way - thankyou.
yippee. cant wait. ;D ;D
yippee,it arrived this morning. lots of lovely stuff in there. will be passing it on christchurch way after the weekend. ;D ;D
Hi Guys
What a lovely surpise - arrived home from a week in Scotland and found the parcel. Promise to have a good old scrummage and will post tomorrow to climates warmer.....
Jitterbug
And then is it going round again?? ;D
Now that's a good idea!What larks.
What else to do when it's dark and rainy ;), just I'm not sure what I'll get at the end of this round and that I'll have enough seeds to start a new parcel, but I hope I'll have lots to spare.
Parcel arrived in Spain yesterday!!!!! thanks sooo much! I'll forwad it on friday (working away from home :-\)
Parcel has done it's rounds! on it's way back to Natasha! thanks for including me, and thanks again Natasha ;D
Thank you Rosie for the kind words,
I'm so excited! I'm finally next!
Dear All!
The parcel arrived 10 min. ago and there is such a lovely choice of everything, I'm really greatfull to all of you for taking part. It's been a journey, but it was fun to watch the package travelling from one location to another and a couple of times I thought it was lost and we'll never see it again, but here we are at the end of the round.
I have to sort out the arrived seeds over the weekend and I'll offer the spare ones next week in this topic, so that people who took part in playing and missed on something can pick what they want. I'll put these ones in the next parcel with a note that it is for you. Seeds unwanted by the "pass the parcel" players will be offered in the main area of the swap shop may be in 10 days. I hope that this way we'll avoid circulating unwanted seeds from this round in the new one.
As for the new round of "pass the parcel" I'll be happy to start it, players welcome, just give me a bit of time to clarify what we do with the spares from this round.
Again many many thanks!
So glad you had a lovely surprise Natasha :D Thank you for all your hard work!
Enjoy and indulge yourself !! ;)
... and when you are ready sign me up for the next round ::) ;D :-*
Dear all,
it is the list of spares from this "pass the parcel" round, if you missed on something or ran out please let me know and I'll include the wanted seeds for you in the next round of "pass the parcel". Please, don't be shy and pick up what you want and as much as you want, I hate it to be wasted, I only have a small plot, there is no room for so much stuff.

Hi markfield rover,
I think we'll go for all sorts of stuff this time and gardener's delight is very welcome!
I just want to ask everybody, please, if there is already a packet of gardener's delight with 400 seeds, this is enough for all of us, don't add more. Because I ended up with 4 packets of little gem and God knows how many packets of turnip/carrot and now it's difficult to rehome them! So, I know you have the best intentions, but also please be sensible, it's better to put a couple of seeds of unusual flower/veg/bean or something what you like yourself, instead of just padding it up.
I Natasha
If still available I'll take lettuce - little gem, beetroot boltardy and carrot nantes. Also add me to the next swap list please.
Many thanks
Jitterbug
Natasha
Thak you again for organising the seed swap. I am happy to rehome the carrots, beetroot, turnips and also the valencian onions if you have them. The famiy don't seem to be able to get enough of the root veg I grow, and if you have lots of seeds it doesn't matter if germination is a bit poorer due to older seeds.
Also I support your idea of just adding a couple of "sample" sized packet of seeds of either your favourites or something unusual.
Thanks
Suzanne :)
Hi Natasha I'd really like any of the root veg please
Thank-You
Jitterbug, Suzanne and Lauren,
I knew someone should turn up for a bit of turnip/carrot and little gem. Thank you very much, I'll put everything you requested in the next round of pass the parcel with a note that it is for you.
Not much stuff left now, good!
These are still available:
rocket wild
onion late valencian (there is a lot!)
radicchio summer mixture
lettuce little gem (there is a lot!)
lettuce romana bionda
brussels sprouts Bedford Darkmar 21
brussels sprouts evesham special
chives
spring onion white lisbon
cabbage lombarda morada
cabbage greyhound
onion late valencian - what sort of onions are these?
I think late valencian came from Biscombe, the package looks Spanish, it is a bulbed variety and there is a lot in the package, so I was going to put it in the new pass the parcel anyway together with cabbage lombarda morada, which also looks Spanish and very yummy.
OK, I think I have to lock this topic now and start a new round of pass the parcell!
