Title: Strawberry runners to early?
Post by: gary on June 15, 2007, 22:20:57
I bought a pack of 6 mixed strawberry plants from Aldi a few months ago. We have had a few strawberries off each but some mainly the "Cambridge Favorite" (the ones we both liked the most) are now setting runners. Is it too early for this or should we just let them be, so that we can have more plants next year, which is our main aim?

Peg the runners into 3" pots and cut the feeder stem in 3 weeks. This gives you the possibility to put the new plants where you want them. Too early?...Me thinks the plant knows best, eh?
