Title: Tomatos yet again!
Post by: Emagggie on June 15, 2007, 20:20:37
Toms on plot are Cuor di Beu  and Marmande mainly, with a few odds and sods thrown in. As I understand it,these are indeterminate, which means they should be pinched out at sides and supported. Some seem to have a double leader at the top, which both shoots are big and strong with flowers. If I leave them both will this compromise the yield, ie shorter plants and less flowers, or should I leave well alone? And whilst I'm here, a few flowers are 'cat faced', should I remove the deformed ones or there again, leave well alone?
As always I appreciate your help. ;D

The doubles? If they have gone that far, I leave them. Just makes tieing in more difficult.

Flowers? If you have plenty, I would remove. If not, leave & expect an imperfect fruit.

Thanks Tim, this is the first year I have grown other than Santa Baby Plum or GD's, so I am eager for good results!

Marmande can be treated like a semi bush anyway-as to double stems-it happens-use a bigger piece of string to tie them in ;D
