I don't know how she could have just walked through it without commenting on the mosaic , the beautiful  wooden seats made from whole tree trunks, the slate sundial  and all the wonderful plants.........

I wanted to see more too, they just went through it with no comment!

Probably because they were making such a fuss of their own! ::)

I think I might write in to GW and ask them about the lovely garden Rachel de Thame walked through, but didn't even bother to mention!!!!

Hiya all, i'm back for a few days, thank you for your kind comments about our garden.

What a mission! where all the other gardens had a team of 10 to12 people on it working, there was just the two of us and a very competent helper that you all know as Tin Shed who saved our lives for a couple of days. We went right to the wire and the last plant went in at 9.00am as the judging started.

The garden was judged as silver although the public and all the other garden builders though that we should have had best in show.A few technicalities let us down, (not the ferns) but we were pleased, as the night before judging we still had a huge bare patch to plant, but a 5am start and a lot of encouragement from the other gardeners we done it.

The weather was awful and one night we got flooded at our camp site. Good job I have an air bed, I could have paddled to work the next day.

I will never learn, as after a few days rest, I am off to Hampton to do a bit on the Daily Mail garden laying 5 thousand bricks to make a path around the garden, plus any other job that needs doing.

As for tv coverage, it was a bit poor, my wife wanted to know who the tart was walking down the garden path. But the 40 year garden had to have its share of coverage, even though they came and begged a lot of our spare plants.

Ace - the garden was brilliant - as all the photos posted on here show. Thought it was a bit rude of GW to walk through the garden without actually mentioning anything about it. Hope you have a good rest before starting on those 5000 bricks!!!

We went to the show last Thursday, got a tad wet!

All in all the show was a bit of a let down after last year and not just because of the weather.  We talked with others and found them saying the same as us.

This year Good Homes and Summer Food was added to the halls, totally unecessary and a nightmare to walk through, jam packed with stalls doing the big sell.

The show gardens were not as good as last year, IMHO, didn't pick up on any new ideas at all.  The 40th Year garden was OTT, too many things going on, to fussy, the only nice bit was the wall - and that's from someone who can't normally stand Joe Swift's input - "it's not gardening!".

Last year in the big hall was a street of front gardens, that was lovely, not there this year, I suppose because of the other shows.

Still not enough emphasis on veg in the RHS tent, only found one stand this year, albeit quite impressive - and expensive!

We did succomb to some seeds from Franchi and some stunning white lavender - oh and a pink watering can which will go with my newly painted pink measuring stick ;D
