Thanks for kind comments. I have never been any good at suitable colour combinations whether it be in the garden or decorating the bungalow but this time something looks right :)

Looks really good and the lupins masking the bare bits clems get at soil level works well too & the colour combination's a dream. Bet this is your Pride and Joy eh? How long will it keep blooming btw?

Can't remember Lish how long it flowered last year. You may remember I grew 2 clematis against an old 5ft by 5ft wrought iron gate, I had to higher this by inserting canes in to the "tubes" I had fixed the gate to and then putting canes across. Gave me another  2ft 6ins height. Both clems are now way above the frame. I don't want to stop them as both clems are smothered in buds. This year they have masses of flowers on both sides of the frame. Yep, you are right.....my pride and joy ;D well that is after my 4 children,8grandchildren and 1 gt.grandchild.LOL ;D ;D

Hi Gardengirl. The Clematis is Princess Diana. It is now approx 10ft high (now above the frame) looks a bit untidy at the top with nothing to grow against but I am reluctant to "trim" it as there are at a guess another 60/70 buds to open.
I did cut it back quite hard last year.
Lorna.
