Title: Sowing times for unheated greenhouse.
Post by: davee52uk on June 14, 2007, 21:58:45
I have an unheated greenhouse on my allotment. This is Leamington Spa in the Midlands. I would like to know what would be suitable sowing times indoors for veg that would be later planted outside. This would be Broad Beans, Cabbage, French Beans, Tomatoes nad Runner Beans.

My neighbour starts of cabbage at home thaten transfers them to his unheated 'house very early in the year but by planting out time has really big healthy plants to put out.

Please advise.

As a general rule any seed that can be sown directly into the ground will germinate quite well in an unheated greenhouse in early/late spring, particularly if it is frost free.

Also use varieties that mention sow in a 'coldframe'

Remember that earliness is not the clever thing - continuity is!
