Title: lovely compost
Post by: pablo on June 12, 2007, 15:52:45
i have recently (about 6 weeks ago) taken over an allotment that had been left i think since the previous sept/oct. it has what i presume is a compost heap about halfway down - currently there are several potatoes and some bindweed growing out of it which i intend to clear!! iwqas wondering whether i can then use the compost as it is - it is quite dry at the moment - or would it be worth me moving it and 'composting' it some more. as i dont know what has gone into it  im not sure what to do with it!!

welcome, pablo
when we took our plot on , there was a heap, rather as you have described, we seived it on to a barrow through an old grill, bit like a fire guard and used it, we took out as much weed root as we could and it filled up a fair few beds for us  ;D

hmm if it has bindweed in it I would be tempted to compost it more, make sure it is all dead!
