A handy cookery hint from my neighbour Ahmed!
When you've harvested the peas, save the pods. Not to make wine!
The pods are EXTREMELY edible and taste exactly like the peas inside. But you have to do the following:
1. Take off the inner 'stringy/shiny' coating inside the pod
Easily done by splitting the pod lengthways from top to tip and stripping it carefully.
2. Pull off the stringy edges of the pod-case
Do it whilst watching TV - it soften's the boredom-blow.
All credit to my mate Ahmed though. It's a fantastic way of doubling the pea harvest and they are lovely fried in butter with salt & black pepper :)
What a good idea - had never thought of that. And I'd rather eat them than feed the compost heap with them!
They make a good puree too, very modern on dishes at this time
Oh cool... so i could be purreeing and freezing these too to feed to the baby then?
something else for it to be emotionally scared about in later life ;D
Yep Daisy, when baby grows up to be a teenager you can tell it and it's embarrassed friends you reared it on stuff you used to put in the compost !!!That'll teach 'em XX Jeannine
Yes indeed, Trixiebelle - but not Tesco's stuff. Never discard your own.
As said - plus Ham & Pea Soup, or even cold in a dressing.
A potato peeler works well if your eyesight is poor!

Tim. I wouldn't go near Tescos with a shi**y stick and I discard NOTHING!
My eyesight is fine, it's just my boredom threshold that is low.
