Need help!
As I read it, it says that if you move a photo to another folder, you will break any outside link.
I tried this and it didn't. So I then deleted all the photos, but they still remain in the forum.
Really need to delete them. What more can I do??
Hi Tim
Are you talking about photos you posted on A4A or your photos on photobucket? if its the first, ask Dan, and the latter it will be in your profile if you've become a member.
Always to the rescue!!
These are photos in my Photobucket album which I linked to a military forum. I now want to delete them but seemingly can't??
Let me get this straight, you have deleted the photos from your Photobucket album, but they are still showing on the military forum?
Is there no Edit/Modify option on the military site where you could remove the offending pictures?
Not unless you're registered, & I don't want to be at this stage.
Just had a play with Photobucket and when I move or delete a picture all you see on a site is the infamous red cross. Very odd!
Here's an example, Eric.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v164/photo04/tangmere.jpg
Now that says Page cannot be found and leaves one on the Home page with an invite to join.
Tim, Without asking which Millitary Forum you are on and not regesered You may find that the moderators or admin have control of what can be deleted. I would you suggest that you e-mail the admin and ask them to remove them
I cannot see the image that has been linked. Perhaps there is a time delay in removing the link, and its disappearance on a forum. Just guessing, trying to make sense of what it happening.
Derek :)
Tim, it may be that your browser is reading the photo from your computer cashe. Delete the cashe or force a browser refresh and the problem may resolve itself.
Admin? Yes - tried that first but they don't reply. One reason I want 'out'.
My cache? Looks likely - I get it on screen instantly. Gently please - how??
OK Tim. If you do this, you will have to re-enter all your Passwords when you go to any site, so make sure you know them all!.
Above the e in Allotments at the top of the page you should see the word Tools. Right Click on it. It brings down a Menu. Right Click on Internet Options. That gets another Menu Click on General on the menu if it is not already on that section (it usually is). Middle section is called Temporary Internet Files. Find the words Delete Files. Click on it! Ignore the other option for now and Click on OK.
That will empty all Cookies and such like from your cache.
Why didn't I see that earlier? Thanks, Eric.
But oooh -a bit scary? I'll have to give it a bit of thought.
If you say that you can't read the link, maybe I should rest content.
It shouldn't delete your cookies that option should be on another button next to the delete files one, hope that puts your mind at rest Tim.
I am resting!!
Knowing me & computers, & accepting Eric's word that the links have been broken, I shall leave wel alone
Tim have you tried refreshing the page with the pics on? This won't clear your whole cache, just that particular page.
Open the web page and hit the F5 key (or the "Refresh" button on your browser, does the same thing). The page will reload from scratch and the images you've removed shoud disappear.
Most web-sites where you have a membership give you the option to 'Stay logged in' or 'Remember me'. This site is one example.
I regularly delete cookies and files, probably a couple of times a month. Having thousands of them constantly being added to is a waste of disc space.
As back-up I also keep a notebook with sites I want to keep with passwords. You could also create a word doc with that inf on.
Personally, Tim. I would go 'Tools' at the top of the page, 'Internet options' 'delete files - delete cookies'.....not a big deal and you might find your 'puter running faster.
How does the song go - If I only had a brain??
Everything noted & recorded with thanks to all.
I shall do some gentle pratice.
Old soldiers never practice 'gently'.... :D
Oh for the edit facility!!

They probably wont reply unless you make yourself a member instead of a "lurker"
Im a member of two military sites and only one is free!
Photobucket is not a wise choice as their terms state that they can sell your photographs or make them public WITHOUT your consent. I would look elsewhere for a hosting site
Interesting.
But you still retain all rights to your photographs :)
Yes you still retain your rights, but see below
