Title: Gardeners World Live
Post by: Tin Shed on June 08, 2007, 22:22:46
Didn't know quite where  to post this as it is a follow on from Ace's photos of the mosaics for their garden at GWL next week.....but went down for a couple of days at the beginning of the week to help him and Yvonne get their show garden ready. Had an exhausting, but  wonderful time and learnt loads.
Here are a few pictures to show how the garden started  - the mosaic is wonderful and so effective and is superb with the planting.
Hope the photos inspire you to go - wish I could go back to see the finished garden.

Wow, those mosaics are brilliant. I do hope someone can follow on with the completed garden for us T.S. Thanks ever so much for posting those, it must have been really interesting helping out, I wish I was nearer as I would have loved to do it.

Missing Ace's sense of humour too!

If it doesn't get on the hour long Gardeners World programme next week I think I shall have to send a letter of complaint! It is absolutely stunning, which ever angle you look at, the mosaic merges in and out of the planting - so, so clever - as you can tell, I was totally bowled over by it!

what was the rest of the show like??

Did you go to any of the talks, what was the swap like?

Rest of the show was OK...accidentally went in late to the Alan Titchmarsh talk (got the time wrong!), he was on good form, very entertaining.

The Bob Flowdew and Lesley....thingy (cook off of Ready Steady Cook) was a bit disappointing, the focus was on the cooking, Bob didn't say a lot at all, no opportunity to ask questions either. ???

My mate and I had a laugh, went 'tasting' (drinking mostly) in the Good Food hall, free samples of Gordons Gin, Cinzano, Stones Ginger Wine, various wines from Chile and Oz etc......forgot to eat much (gippy tum), hence ending up with Gordon Ramsay almost tripping over our feet as we were 'relaxing' drinking Pimm's whilst lying on a huge purple bean bag at the Google stand! Don't know why they had them there, but we made good use of them!

Loads of 'celebs' floating around, we spotted Alan T, Bob Flowerdew, Joe Swift, Monty, Rachael Du Thame, several others who looked familiar but we couldn't put a name to!

Plantwise I bought a fab red millet, saw it on the 'Women and Allotments' mini garden, (the only veggy exhibit apart from Robinson's amazing stand in the marquee), took ages tracking it down, found it on the B&Q stand in the end!!
Also got 12 'Marshmellow' strawberry plants from the Marshalls stand, half price (couldn't resist) and came in a nice hessian bag with the new catalogue and a voucher to use with it! ;D

Best buy? Some amazing soaps from the Seeds of Italy stand, Lettuce, Tomato and Fig I bought...(not mixed together!), plus special offers on their seeds.

Seed swap was a bit of a disappointment.I got there early, deposited 6 packets of seeds, could only take 1 packet of the seed from Berryfields, the rest had to come from the RHS spare packets (no veg) of what other people had bought.....not a lot!! I only took 2 packets away with me, a packet of squash seeds from Berryfields. :-\

So.......overall OK! ;D
