Price seems reasonable, but do they work?
Not sure how well they work, but I've got the 2 pronged version, bought it from Wilkinsons last year. Seem to remember it being about £7, but not sure about that either.
What I will say is that the reading does vary from soil to soil, so it is measuring something ???. The 2 prong one also does light and moisture measurements though.
If you're gonna buy one, I'd get to Wilkos. :)
I have one I rarely use.
Don't know if they are accurate but they will certainly tell you if your soil is too far one way or the other. i.e. acidic/alkaline
Handy if you are considering adding lime and you don't know what your soil is like.
Clean them with a brillo pad/pan scourer or similar after every test to remove all traces of previous test.
I prefer the liquid method - reckon it's more critical.
But yes, the probes do read changes.
Thanks all.
I recon a trip to the local Wilco's is on the cards.
Found mine outside today..the bl00dy thing's broken!
Oh well, never really used it anyway.
You can see if it's too light/dark.
And if you don't know whether you need to water, you need help. :P
Best get the liquid ph thingy out next time eh? ;)
