Hi, we visited leeds castle (kent) last year and brought home a souvenir jar of their strawberry and champagne jam/preserve (?) and we REALLY loved it! It must have cost 4-5 quid but since we are a family of five strawb jam lovers, we voted to get it rather than inidividual souvenirs. It was really, really good! :P :P :P (Tells you a lot about us!)
Last year I made my first home-made jam from our allotment strawbs with ready-made-for-jam-sugar, and it was not that great :-\ :'(. Please if you have a really good jam recipe could you share it? Esp. if it has a splash of wine? :'( Thanks! :) ;D
I do a port wine jelly and a Grand Marnier Orange Jelly,I think the port wine one could be adapted
No alcohol I'm afraid but I made this last week with some frozen strawberries I was given by a kindly allotmenteer, it was gorgeous :P
It is a variation on Nigella's recipe;
I used roughly equal amounts of strawberries and jam sugar, make in the usual way and then add balsamic vinegar.....i know it doesn't sound promising but it really does make the flavour even more strawberry-ish!
Nigella recommends 1 teaspoon of balsamic for every 11/2 pounds of fruit.
Thanks, I'll try it! ;) :)
