hi peeps,
we are setting up a seed and cultivation diary about what seeds do well and which dont to make sure that we dont forget next year.
here are the results thus far www.lottieblogs.co.uk/sandc.aspx (http://www.lottieblogs.co.uk/sandc.aspx)
does anyone else keep anything like this and if so do you have online copies we could look at to try and improve ous.
any comments always appreciated
I keep mine notes in a "Harry Potter" diary that the boys didn't use!!!!
:-X
I keep a record of most things I grow, some very basic, but certainly the toms, squash corn and beans are quite intensive.
It is nothing fancy, just a book, a new one each year.
Page for each variety, planting date, transplanting date, comments on weather at various times, problems with germination or not, pests, growing problems, maturity dates , storage info on squash, weight of squash and number, size and weight ot toms, taste, density, colour, shapes etc. Fertiliser used etc. Where I bought seed.
General stuff like that.

definitley some good idea, we may addd more detail fro next year to see idf we are ahead or behind
This is something that I meant to do this year....
I got off to a good start but then got side tracked. ::)
As the year goes on, it is becoming more apparent that I should have kept it up!
Oh well I'll know for next year!
I started with great intentions - this is my first year doing the growing - but then my dog got hold of the book I wrote in and "censored" it with his teeth! ::)
I have been keeping a diary since 1986 this is a compilation of it; http://tinyurl.com/vdzpp and this is how; http://tinyurl.com/3ddpbf
I keep an excel sheet - I learnt last year that memory is not to be trusted ! I also do a plan of the plot so I can remember what was planted in each bed.

I too started to keep a record, on the pc and in a note book. I even tried producing a folder with all my info, tips that I collect on my travels around the inernet, recipies, companions, planting dates and general info. This all stopped when I got he allotment, probably the time that I should have kept better records! I do write to a gardening forum, and tell them what I have been up to each day, so I suppose this will be my best record to look back on. And I keep a planting chart of what goes where and when.
more detailed next year i feel with length of time to germinate etc
