I'll make anyone a wood cut-out of almost anything. Puzzles in wood used to be my thing. If you have a line drawing you'd like cut-out in wood, MDF, ply-wood what-ever, give me a shout.
PS: The Genie people are asking about ( the one on my avator thingy) is cut from 80/100mm wide mahogany. This particular wood is as wide as I go; good reason for that.....the wood is what came from the snooker championship table of 1972! Not kidding....when it's gone, it's gone.
Copy from wikipedea;
The 1972 World Snooker Championship took place between March 1971 to February 1972, Taking nearly to year to complete it. It began with eight qualifiers being reduced to two to join the eight other entries in the competition proper. Those in the qualifying section included four former amateur champions, Ron Gross, Maurice Parkin, Pat Houlihan and Geoffrey Thompson, who all turned professional when well past their prime, but also Alex Higgins who was to make history as the first qualifer ever to go on to win the title.
Higgins was not extended until the semi-final when Rex Williams led him by six frames before the Irishman got home in an exciting finish by the odd frame in 61.
The final proceeded on even lines until Higgins struck the front with a 6-0 victory in the Thursday evening session. This created a gap which John Spencer was never able to close.
The win for Higgins also made him the youngest champion at the age of 22 years and 345 days until Stephen Hendry in 1990.
One of the suprises of the championship had come in the quarter-finals when Rex Williams beat Ray Reardon 25-23, the match being contested in five different club venues in Scotland.
The final took place at Birmingham's Selly Park British Legion.
So, anything cut from this wood has to be a little special, eh?
Excellent Kenkew. I do love the genie. ;D
Wouldn't half like a go with the saw........
That saw has 12 different blades and an abrafile! Pop over, I'll let you hand-tension it yourself. :o
BW bought a kit of powertools last week and he actually said the jigsaw was for me, he knows how to treat a girl. ;D
I do not have the remotest idea what an abrafile is, please tell all Ken.
It's a saw blade that cuts on all sides, Maggie.
Trixie....
I've cut out two Genies. One in teak, the other in pine. I've beveled the edges and rubbed at 120 grit, raised the grain and rubbed again at 360. I know you want to finish them your self, so do you want me to take them further than this?
OOOOOH FAB ;D THANKS!
They'll be fine as they are X
Or I could add a nice 'K' to remind you where it came from?
....Maybe not! How about a querky 'TX'...?
...Mmm! OK. I'll highlight the grain and leave it at that. :(
Trixiebelle: Wrapped and packed. Can you E-mail or PM your address, please.
Trix'....Genies in post this morning.
Woohoo! ;D Thanks Kenkew!
