I also work away from home and will be back with my seed collection on tuesday night, so I'll get the OH to post first thing wednesday morning, cat very poorly but ok now, phew!

He's been off it since yesterday all hunched up, then earlier this afternoon he started having breathing difficulties which started getting very bad, we found a vets an hour away (sunday :-\) who said on the phone that he could have been poisoned. When we got there poor Spizz's tongue was purple he couldn't breathe! he had 2 xrays and the vet thought he may have a punchured diaphragm from a fall or a kick. Vet gave him a barium meal so he could take another xray and told us come back in an hour, saying that it was touch and go and probably couldn't operate because poor Spizz was in suc¡h a bad way, we thought we were saying goodbye and in tears we left. 10 mins later the vet phoned and told us to come back, thats it we thought! got back and the vet was syringing gunk from his lungs he was drowning in fluid in and around his lungs. He is now very poorly at the vets, we have to pick him up tomorrow, hope he can fight off this infection. Keep your fingers crossed for the fellow .................

Here's Spizz, badly abused when he found us, we took him in, moved to the country which he loves, thank goodness he's still with us

Awww, he's lovely.

We had a black and white cat too. We lost him two years ago to Lymphoma, he was 14.

Fingers (and toes) crossed here that he makes a full recovery. I know how pets become part of the family.

Rosie, I have stuck Spizz's  name on my fridge along with my prayer chain names and he's been passed onto the chain via e mail to Canada, you and  him together. You will both be in my thought a lot  for a while, bless him, we are really routing for him here.

Last year one of my Pekes got very sick, and went down very quickly, we thought it was poison too,she was on an intravenous for a week, we never expected to see her again but she came through against all thoughts,  took 3 weeks in intensive care but she made it,even the vet was stunned, so keep positive,

Hugs and love coming from me to you both and to heck with the parcel  XXX Jeannine

Hello

I have 2 loving dogs Gini is a Staff/Lab cross and Mr B Staff/Jack Russell Cross They are both 10 years old i have had Gini since a puppy and Mr B (Buster we hated the name and shorten it) we rescued 5 years ago and is a RSPCA case he was mistreated by his owner he got bored chew through the catflap and when through a hole in the fence and tore a 9" gash in his side and then ran straight out in the road and was hit by a corsa and dragged for 10 meters up the road when we picked up he was a mess stiches and lumps of tar and grit, But they love each other Mr B sleeps in his own bed near me and Gini sleeps with me some mornings i get a cold nose in the ear or stapled in the back as she streches.

I love cats as well but Mr B doesn't mind them Gini she chases all the local cats apart from one al-capone no joke this cat is one seroius moggie balls of steel he took on a rotty and the dog can off worst needing quite a lot of vet treatment

Cheers

Just wanted to say I'm sending healing thoughts for Spizz. I know how awful it is when something like that happens. :(
He looks adorable. :-* He's very lucky to have found a person like you! :)

Hi all! went to see Spizz on the way to work this morning, looking very ill but breathing, your thoughts mean a lot, It's great speaking to animal lovers about this, some people here at work don't understand the anguish!!  :-\

Hang in there Rosie, don't forget that animals are more sensible than people,if they are ill they will lay down and sleep. Sleep is natures way of resting the organs that need to heal. We would get up like the martyrs that we are and struggle on. Pets are more clever but it does mean that they don't put on a brave face to visitors so they often look worse than they are.

Stay strong and don't pay any attention to the plebes at work, they ain't got no class, come  on here for your hugs. I have never been able to understand the attitude that makes a pet less important than a person, it is your loved one, therefore it is part of you like all your family ,wether it has 2 feet or four.

Keeping you  both in our hearts

XX Jeannine

Poor Spizz, I'm so glad he's on the road to recovery.  You'll be pleased to hve him home again.  Even though they sleep most of the time, the house is so empty without them, especially with the worry when we can't give them the reassurance they need when ill. But the staff are really kind to the patients at the vets, we've had a couple of traumas with our lovely moggies (who are 10 years old tomorrow) and they've been brilliant with them.

Biscombe - have only just read your thread - and am so pleased it has a happy ending.  We lost a siamese to some sort of poison when I was a child, and I still have the image of her struggling to walk in through the front door and collapsing in the hallway.  Sadly she didn't make it.  I'm really happy for you and him that Spizz did.
