Title: Empty Nest When??
Post by: Doris_Pinks on May 27, 2007, 15:13:48
We have delayed cutting our hedges as we have nesting Blackbirds and Robins in them.

Anyone know, when should they have raised their babies and all left home, so it would be safe to cut?

OH is desperate to get his hedge trimmers out! ;D ;D

Have a look at the nests. If there are still babies present leave the hedge cutting until they have flown. If the nests are empty then should be OK as the babies have flown. However, look into the nest for eggs to see if they have started a second brood as they often do and may use the same nest after a bit of repair.
