No, it didn't; that's romanticising myth. Nothing romantic about freezing to death in the North Atlantic! In fact, as you might expect, there was total panic on board as the ship went down.

I first read A Night To Remember ,many years ago,in the 60's I think but anyway a long before being a Titanic follower became popular and it was claimed to be quite realistic, not glorified ,just a factual account,as close as it could be done after the fact, the movie of the same name is practically word perfect to the book. I have quite a few movies re the sinking too,many of which are barely known,some very early ones, it is quite interesting how the same little detail pops up in one guise or another in many of them.
Still an extremely sad and horrific story albeit kept alive by romanticism and fables.
I think as time goes on it is difficult for people to seperate fact from fiction especially the younger ones who have never heard much about the real story.
Periodically I find I read all my books again and watch the movies one after another,each has a different story and some are very entertaining, but I still think the Kenneth Moore one is my favourite. Even though I know much of what is in them is only a shadow of the truth sometimes I still find myself horrified thinking of the reality that is not shown, and perhaps should not be.
