Anyone grown any? I have some and have got 3 plants, no idea if they need anything special done with them, they came in a seed packet from France and it seems no instructions are necessary! Nice pic on front of the packet and that's it!
:-\
hi, yes i am (also french packet - from tilts i think). i am growing them the same as cucumbers and will see how they get on. i will plant them out soon and try to train them up a wigwam as i do with cukes. the plants look healty enough and are hardening off happily, i think they will be fine (tempting fate there maybe!). am hoping jeannine or someone will have recipe for pickling them.
Nothing difficult about Cornichons - they're only Gherkins, which are pickling Cucumbers?
Pickle the same way.
As has been said they are only Gherkins. I grow them trailling on the ground and where ever there is an area that needs ground cover. They are excellent at smothering weeds. Last year I lett them grow on to Gherkins but they so prolific that sixty Gherkin is a lot to pickle. I much prefer Cornichons as nibbles with a glass of the last season Rhubarb.
yes I am growing them, Petit Vert de Paris, they are getting on nicely. didn't know they would spread like ground cover! That could be useful for one or two! Otherwise think I need to train them upwards. I want to pickle mine so I have a few plants. They were easy to grow from seed, Once the plants were about 10 cm high I planted out and they have caught on quite well.
Think Jeannine has recipes for pickling them (maybe search the recipe section for that?)
