Hi all
Missed you lot! Thanks for the messages and well wishes.
It's not my knee that's been the problem - but my foot. I was having a lovely ride about three weeks ago when a dog appeared out of nowhere and chased us. The horse I ride is scared of dogs, so he legged it for home and I was doing ok - not panicking, trying to stop him - when we jumped a drainage ditch at full gallop (think Beecher's Brook here!) and I hit the deck hard. Landed on my left hip, then rolled over backwards and pulled my right foot in the wrong direction. The dog then went for me, but a called it an unmentionable and flung my arm out, so fortunately it went away. Horse, meanwhile, was carrying on home, but fortunately he's a sensible chap and stopped at the road, where a passer by caught him.
My riding instructor took me to hospital - the hip was ok - just very badly bruised on the skin and muscle, and the foot is sprained, not broken as we thought.
I've been off work for nearly three weeks, and don't have internet at home. I'm getting about better now, but still hobbling.
But the great thing has been the weather - it's been glorious so I've spent practically the whole time in the garden, pottering about or sitting on the bench reading. I actually had days when there was nothing I could do in the garden because I'd done it all (well - other than the tricky things like digging or lifting). Didn't know that was possible!
Very glad to be back.
Glad to hear that you're ok (mostly) Aqui, I was getting a bit worried there. :)
Phew! After speaking to you for a couple of days and then nothing....well....you know girl.... worry sets in. Glad you are okay, well, as okay as you can be, and glad that you have had some glorious weather to lounge about in! ;D How long before you are back on horseback??
EJ - Hope to at least be able to go and play with horse next week. As long as I can walk fast enough, I hope to take him for a walk (me walking, not riding) and then let him out in the field for a play. I do miss him! I reckon it'll be a couple more weeks until I can get back in the saddle, and then I'll just have to stick to slow work for a while.
Did you get the seeds by the way?
Hi Aqui - left a message for you on the Pond thread before noticing this one. You have certainly been through the mill haven't you - so glad you are ok, could have been really nasty. Take it easy and don't try to do too much too soon.........Pat
I do hope you are back to full strength soon, you poor old thing .Lucky it wasn't worse, sounds like quite a tumble.
So what odds are you going in for next Grand National.....................?
Phew - well at least we can all stop worrying about you now!!!
Thank heavens you didn't break anything. :o Bl..dy dog...where was it's owner for heavens sake!! >:( I've taken a fair few tumbles off horses in my time too, isn't the ground just sooooo hard when you hit it??!!!! ::) :P
Hope you'll be able to trot around better again soon.
Take care.
Love, Eileen.
So very very hard. Especially on london clay that hasn't seen much rain!
owners were... well your guess is as good as mine. There were a few people in the middle of the several-acre field, but if it was their dog, they didn't do anything to help. And on this land dogs are only allowed if kept 'under control' - that is not what I call that. I've been fuming about this for three weeks - I don't blame the horse or the dog - both were acting according to their natural instincts. If anything horse was trying to help me by getting us out of a bad situation. But I am very mad at the owners. rant over.
It's extra annoying as it's taken me ages to get the guts up to ride out and I was really enjoying it and now, whilst I'm not scared to ride in the paddock at the stables, I don't much fancy encountering a dog again when we're out and about.
Yo Aqui
Here's some get well foot dust for u..
.:*.:*.:* :-*.:*.:*.:*.:*.;*.:*.:*.:*.:*.:*.:*.:*.:* :-*.:*.:*
the kisses are for the tcp bits u know.. there there there... so to soothe the stingy bit.. is top dust this.. so dont go snorting it all at once now.. 3 times a day and again I must make it clear as with all imaginary medicine please please please avoid cottage cheese and dont under any circumstance drive the USS Enterprise without checking that the core is fully charged and that u has plenty of photons torpedoes... cus lets face it Aqui... those klingons.... not to be taken lightly.. although it does depend which Enterprise U is gonna be driving? Kirks or Jean-Luc... I meself prefer the jean-luc enterprise only cus the old Kirk Enterprise always used a lot plasma.. and Jean-lucs is more plasma effective and dead good at hand brake turns...
babble alert but gooood to see u back
Oz
:-*
A bit of Ozzy babble does an injured foot a world of good. I'm feeling better already Oz!
As for cottage cheese - I'd say it should be avoided at all times anyway. yuck.
I did Aqui, many thanks. Actually, was quite a relief cos I knew then that you were okay and around somewhere! ;D
Aqui, hope this wee Thelwell picture dosn't bring back painful memories. Glad you are o.k. and hope you are back to digging in time to lift the tatties!

that's a wee dog running round the horse!
Thanks Wicker - that really made me laugh! It's exactly how it was, except the thelwell horse is a lot fatter (of course) than the one I ride! ;D
And digging is getting closer - yesterday I planted my toms out in the bed. Only about 1/4 of my plants would fit in there. I decided the easiest way to do it was to sit down and use the handtrowel. Who said gardening was good exercise? ;)
