Really impressive ...hope that you enjoyed it
what sort?
It's Pablo & there is a bit of a story behind that!
Till about 2 years ago i had only ever grown salad bowl type cut-&come-again lettuce I didn't really know you could grow other types & then I found this site & I saw a picture of a Pablo someone had grown which I was sooo impressed by that I Googled & found it at Real Seeds & have grown Pablo & lots of other hearting lettuces since.
Thanks A4A it's all down to you! :)
Looks beautiful. I will have to make a note to get some Pablo seed.
Wow that looks good, we are a few weeks off harvesting anything in West York yet.
We found Pablo excellent last year.
But when did you sow that??
Looking good, they look a bit like the Sangria ones I grow, red edge to the leaves, think Sangria os more of a loose headed one.
Just picked the first of my little gems, Sangria not far behind and counter nearly there as well.
Loloa roso might actually do something this year, not had any luck with them up to now
Other than my cut & come again Salad bowl & lolla rossa - I reckon another 3-4 weeks before we pick full lettuce heads.
I have Sangria, Lollo Rossa and Lakeland about two weeks from eating...

we've been eating little gem for a couple of weeks, from under cover, I've been picking individual seeds out of mixed leaves and seeing what comes up as a full lettuce..got some lovely different ones coming up :)

Hi Tim, I sowed the seeds early Feb and put them out in the cold greenhouse in March & we have been eating them since mid April. I sowed several varities & the best by far was one called All Year Round, a big butterhead which grew really quickly.
As for a salad bowl variety of lettuce getting huge. That is not a surprise to me since it holds the world record for weight at 25 lbs.
I sowed a lettuce called 'Artic King' which was a free packet in a magazine. I sowed it in Autumn and left it out all winter without any kind of cover, even when it snowed here in Leicester (though it does say cover in harsh winters).
We have been eating them since the beginning of March and they were beautiful. Picked the last one yesterday and now i've got to wait a coulple of weeks until my Iceburgs are ready
Just harvested my first Little Gem and Little Leprechaun lettuces this week, replanted the gaps with some 'Bessom Rouge' that I got from someone in the first round of seed parcels....cheers! ;D ;D
