Hi all, :D
Looked out at my marigolds this morning, to see some of them decimated. >:( I think d**n slugs & snails, then watch a starling come along & rip the leaves off & take them away for nesting material >:( So be warned if you have starlings in your garden you might have to net your marigolds.
Adrian.
What kind of Marigolds? Are they French, African or English?
Hi there,
French, 4 different varieties, the starlings like them all >:(
Adrian.
OO Eck I thought that it was only the slugs and snails that we had to worry about! >:(
Know they are top of the slug snack menu but didn't realise birdies like them! Probably don't get our out until after nesting time!
???
was going to plant some marigolds in the same containers/grow bags as my toms to ward off white fly. reading htis not so sure now if they are a slug/snail magnet...
I grow them in the border of my G'hous for just that reason and it works... I use Tagetes. I also use French/African Marigolds between my cabbage plants. Doesn't keep the Whitefly down there but makes slug picking much easier and reduces damage to my edibles!
;D
do you know any high street suppliers stocking these (Tagetes)? (will get some seeds for next year) . BQ? Homebase etc...???
Spooky, try Woolies - this year they did a BOGOFF on all packs of seeds. Homebase and B&Q also stock them. Not too late for this year either.
just got back from a hunting trip ;D Morrisons were doing packs of 20 plants for £3.29 so sorted now :)
