Title: pickling cucumbers
Post by: queen of the cobs on May 07, 2007, 16:39:23
advice please?

Are these to go in the ground outside or should I keep them in the greenhouse? They are only a coule of inches high atm, and have 4 or 5 leaves. Pluse, I only have 2 of them, so unsure of what kind of a crop to expect (2 seeds to a packet - the least in any pack I've bought!  :o)

And will I need to trellis them like other cucumbers?

Hi, I'm growing gherkins which I assume are the same as your cucumbers. They can go outside once all risk of frost has passed and they will scramble up netting if you give them some to climb ;). Two seeds in a packet :o whose seeds are they?

thanks - seeds from Sutton Seeds which was rather disappointing...luckily both have come up strong.

Will plant out in the next couple of weeks.

Some are bush and some climb, I usually pick ones that are bush and put them 10 to a raised bed.  It should give you a height on your packet. If you know the name I might be able to tell youXX Jeannine
