Title: Sweetcorn??
Post by: jchapman on May 07, 2007, 12:44:44
Can I plant my sweetcorn in the same bed as my tomato's?? I've just read that they don't make good companions but my book on companion planting doesn't mention anything. I wanted to put them together in the biggest bed that had been heavily manured. I haven't grown outdoor toms before.

Any help greatly appreciated

I don't see any problem other than they are both gross feeders and require plenty of moisture so they will be in competition for the feed/moisture.

The other thing is the corn might shade out the light from the tomatoes thus hindering ripening.

This is only an opinion the choice is yours really!
