the weather men say its going to rain tonight, but we still havent had a drop here in nottinghamshire, maybe we will get some tomorrow.
Heavy rain forecasted for Derbyshire all day tomorrow...guess the planned day out with the kids might be in jeopardy.... :-\
been raining on and off since this afternoon, hope it's on it's way to you, simon :)

yep same here
I think we got about 2 drops.
We got a bit of light rain during the late afternoon.
We got a few drops, but it was quite a pleasant day on the whole. It's obviously comng in slowly, which may well mean it's coming in earnest. I hope so.
Got here in deepest devon about an 2 hours ago just hope it carries on for a while now :)
Rain was in the air - then about 10 drops and that was it!!!
Fine drizzle all the way on the windscreen as I drove back from my Mums at around ten tonight, but barely enough to clear the dust off the screen.
None here whatsoever in sunny East Surrey :(
I was happy I didn't have to go water the plot today, been drizzling on and off since lunch time. Will pop over tomorrow though, cause the weeds are probably saying "whoopee... water... let's grooowww!"
Lin
Supposed to start raining in Hull tomorrow for a week, heavy tomorrow then light till next weekend XX Jeannine
feels like its going to rain but nothing
I think I've got all of it here in N.Ireland :-\
Gives rain and stormy weather all week :o
Think I'll swop it for a greenhouse, ;D ;D ;D
I left the lottie early today - no rain, but there was a nippy little breeze a-blowing!
we had plenty yesterday, with bright sunny spells in between.
more of the same today I hope.
No rain here for the last 6 weeks but now whoopee its coming down like stair rods
Teaming down here in Gloucester!......bang goes my day as I am a Garden Maintenance person who was planning on pruning large hedges and lawns cutting.....reason I am working on Bank holiday is because off to Zante on Wednesday...
Hi Green pea, yes, it's raining in Gloucester!
I was very pleased to wake up to the rain this morning, although it means a day of housework, rather than digging the allotment :(
At least the soil will be easier to dig when it stops, the plants will be happy, and so will the weeds!
Hi all, ;D ;D
Its raining this morning on Norwich. I think this is the first useful amount in six weeks.
We had no real April showers.
I never thought I`d be pleased to see rain, I`ll be happy if it rains all day.
Col
Goodmorning all
It's been raining in the Netherlands since yesterday evening. Not a splashing rain that washes away seeds and seedlings, but a constant drizzel that soaks the earth. Wonderful. Never been happier with rain.
All of us A4A-ers in the southern dustbowl have been doing synchronised rain dances, cleaning windows, hanging out duvets, inviting friends for bbqs and all sorts of other rain-inducing stuff. (See 'We have rain - of a sort' - in The Shed.) There's been no measurable rain down here for about 5 weeks :o I'm really sorry for all who have outdoor plans for this Bank Holiday Monday - but (secretly!) I'm delighted to say that is is actually raining as I write :) :) :) If we just get enough to fill the gaping cracks in my garden before someone actually disappears down one I'll be well pleased ;)
I wish it would arrive here. Dog woke me in the night to go in the garden for a wee (the dog not me!!) I think it was 3.30am and a few drops of rain were falling. This morning the garden path looks damp and thats about all, very envious of those who have had some rain.
Maybe my imagination, but I could have sworn when I got up this morning 7ish, that the bare earth patches on the lawn were still there (leatherjackets), well now, there are bits of grass. I believe the grass is actually growing back, in hours!!
Ok, maybe I have just been too busy to notice and it has been growing back all week, but if was definately bare earth last weekend!
Hello
I's been raining since 2am here in Dunstable,Bedfordshire i think it's in for the day.
Cheers
Brogusbue
Well, Metcheck got it wrong in Derby....we're supposed to have had 4mm of rain at 6am, and showers all morning...so far nowt!!
I saw some on the window last night as I closed the blinds (about 10pm) (NE England), Turns out it was only a drizzle - paths completely dry this morning.
We now have a fine drizzle so maybe if it keeps on all day it will at least dampen the ground.
Falling on Kent as I type!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yippee!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yes - guess who stayed on the lottie last night till dusk watering???????????????
Louise
Hallelujah! Finally got some in the night, and it's looking pretty grey again now. How long before we're all moaning about it being too wet?! ;D
Its finally raining in Hastings!!!!
Looked out of the window and jumped for joy, if it keeps coming I'll be able to dig again!
Managed to get a few drops by putting the washing out Deb... but not enough!
;D
We got a proper downpour this morning :D :D :D!
Still nothing in Birmingham. metcheck's offering a severe weather warning, with localised heavy showers and possible thunderstorms. The latter would be ideal as far as I'm concerned.
Hello
At the moment it's stop raining and the sun is trying to come out the wind has picked up but it's getting a bit humid with the sun
Cheers
Brogusblue
Its been pouring here in North Kent for the last hour - absolutely brilliant its the first proper rain for at least 6 weeks - I suppose it will not be welcomed by most on a bank holiday
Had a monsoon for about 3 hours, so now there are floods everywhere. It has stopped now, so I'm dashing back to the lottie to finish what I started this morning.
Only a couple of drop down here in Dorset (holiday makers must be happy) the skies are gunmetal grey though - so fingers crossed we might just get a good downpour. I set up my water butt on my newly erected green house and everything - all prepared and nada. So please send it my way....
Jitterbug
The rain be here in Surrey!! (eventually) :)
Nice heavy shower for about an hour and now sunny again! Perfect! ;D
Can't remember being pleased to see the rain on a bank holiday before.
First rain since the end of March - just in time for some of the plants which are dropping their leaves to recover, I hope.
What joy -its rained here today - with proper rain-and the lottie looks wonderful!!!!
Poured down last night and cats an dogs most of the day, the sun came out about 3ish and been nice since, but still windy though. 8) ;D ;D ;D
About a thimble full, here in Sunny Southampton.... but we are forecast for more... fingers crossed!
Yep - downpour here, and about time! Typically, we'd just been to pick up a water barrel for the garden but it was raining so hard - and windy - that OH gave up and came in til it was over! - so we've probably missed the only downpour for the next month or so ;D Still, it's up and waiting now - and the sun is shining!
V windy here at the mo - peas and mange tout are getting a bit of a battering :(
The water butt in my garden was empty, after the downpour it is now full to the brim. ;D ;D ;D
Hull got about ten seconds worth, not the heavy that was promised. Maybe tomorrow XX Jeannine
Here in Wincheser nice gentle drizzle first thing, then a gentle downpour - then sunshine to dry everything again. Not enough to fill the waterbutts, though. And still quite windy.
Glorious rain arrived this morning to fill all the cracks in the lawn. Weeds have popped their heads above the parapet and I lost a big courgette leaf to the wind. Torch on the ready for the big slug hunt tonight!
We had the odd drip in Birmingham, and that was all. What a let-down!
I know for sure it was raining all night in the Milton Keynes area, as I was camping in it!! Secretly pleased though I know it will be all weeds when I go down tomorrow.
Gonna build me a pipeline from that Enfield waterbutt, this site is for sharing ;D
It's pouring down here in Kings Lynn. Has been drizzly showers all day, but we are now having a downpour. Fantastic! Although I am a little worried about my squash.
We had some rain overnight on the edge of Salisbury Plain then a shower that lasted for about half an hour this afternoon. However, the soil is still as dry as dust. :(
Sorry Ninny but it's all mine, all mine hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa :P :P :P :-* ;D ;D ;D
raining like cats and dogs here - YIPPIE
can i order a dry still warm day for tomorrow please with a side helping of winning lottery numbers
We had an hour of heavy rain yesterday morning, but it all looks as dry as ever now. There's more forecast for this evening; I hope it materialises.
Morning Joe11
Still raining in Plymouth, L.R. forecast gives us another 5 days of it, going a bit over the top now.
Old Chinese proverb==Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
I'd be quite happy with a week of torrential rain; we no longer know when we're going to get the next lot!

True but i would like today to get back up there and try getting more stuff in the ground as there getting leggy wating.
It can rain the rest of the week but today i would like to get up there.
I can cope with just about everybody else getting rain but Cambourne! Here I am only a few miles away and all we've had so far are a couple of short showers Monday and Tuesday, not even enough to make me wet let alone the soil! It's bone dry again.
The youngest son is on a school trip to study rivers/streams today I was sure that would make it rain....probably over Peterborough where he's standing in a stream but not here.
The weather forecast says rain at about 3pm.....the new water butt is waiting.
Metcheck says rain every day for the next week for our area (SW London) - fingers crossed.

3pm is fine i will have finished digging the doc out of my last bed by then and it can rain all it likes till friday :D
Well rather amazingly....right at 3pm it started raining! However it rained lightly for about an hour then stopped.
Raining again. ;D ;D ;D
a lovely fine drizzle for the last 20 mins ..... we need about a week of this
1/2 inch below the surface our soil is like dust
just driven though really heavy rain, it been raining since about 3.30!
The odd thing is that there gritting the road!!! Do you think were due a frost?
It's been drizzling here since about 2pm. I got to the allotment briefly at lunch time, and the soil still looked as dry as ever.
Proper rain here, no deluge but steady drizzle and bouts of proper rain so should be soaking in really well. About 1/2 " by teatime having left a rain gauge out (OK it was a mug)...
;D
Not much in West Yorks sadly.
Watched the local weather for cast with interest. Great rain later in the day so of i go to commit carnage on any weeds that has popped their heads out. Purged the whole of the garden, weeded and hoed up my spuds, Then it came still had the rest of the garden to do. Oh well never mind have a cuppa and a f*g, it stopped before i got to the shed. Oh well cleaned out the onion bed and every other bit of garden every corner North, South, East and West. So where is the bloody rain. I think the weather people are laughing at me.
raining here near bristol !! managed to get carrots, swede, parsnips.s onions and radish in before it chucked it down ;Dlots more to catch up on but the list is a bit shorter
marg
Raining good in Hull finally
Can i have some of your rain please, Pretty please even
Lovely steady drizzle and light showers in Winchester. Need a bit more action from the sky to fill the waterbutts. But this is soaking the ground, which is fantastic, rather this way than a deluge after the dry weeks.
I'm sorry, it appears we're getting everybodies share here. It's hardly stopped for the last couple of days. Wind and rain and puddles galore. Please come and take it away?
Sand
I agree with you Sand, here in sunny Manchester, it is raining cats, dogs and elephants! Why oh why can't it just rain at night and be fine in the day... haven't managed to get on the plot for 2 days, fingers crossed for a dry day tomorrow, need to weeeeeed! Lin
Rain was heard outside late last night, but everything's looking fairly dry again this morning.
our 3 water butts have filled, only 3 more to go..cold though !! :)
Raining here in Sunny Enfield for about an hour and a half now, If you want some Davy I'm selling it for £1 for a bucket or £3 for five buckets, seed swaps are welcome to. Really its like living in Manchester, got to go my cornbeef hash is burning. ;D ;D ;D
finally got some rain last night, rained for 4 hours gave the plot a good soaking, all water butts full
sure it's not your jellied eels, ck ?..the sun's shining here ;D ;D
Steady rain here W of London since 2.30 ish. But still some way to go to fill the waterbutts (which were almost empty when the blessed precipitation began a few days ago.)
Had some fine rain the last two days ;D we needed it,waterbutts are full ;D
Nr Milton Keynes.
it's been nice here great yarmouth norfolk but raining now went over lottie earlier to find the weeds have grown but good news so are carrotts spuds and many other veg.
Definitely cornbeef hash Scousers, might wash it down with a can boddingtons, still raining here kidder, see you later co ck. ;D ;D ;D
We had a heavy shower this afternoon. The soil was looking damp again this morning, at least superficially.
Wait to you go down an inch Robert. ;D ;D ;D
You're probably right, but it's been raining steadily for several hours now, with no sign of a let-up. I'll check when I can get to the allotment.
if i had a butt, it should have been under the guttering this morning at about 6.30am to save my newly germinated lemon zest calendula from being flattened by something akin to niagra falls.
::)
Crazy extremes. No rain for 6 wks. After a couple of hours drizzle the other day, finally got the rotovator out to prepare the carrot/swede/parsnip/leek beds.
Just got it finished & then non stop rain for (now) 7hrs.
Not complaining as long as one can walk about w/o 6" on the base of the boots whilst sowing.
When will it all stop !!!!!!!!
I need to get on with some planting & its hardy stopped raining/drizzleing now for two and a half days
dont say that you will make the other forum posters angry!! ;)
we should clarify and say we would like it not to rain for a couple of hours so that you could do some planting and then it can rain again ;D
It's absolutely p***ing down here and has been for hours. At this rate we'll be on FLOOD ALERT soon.
I dont know you english first its to dry, then its to wet!
My children were beginning to fear for my sanity, the number of times they heard me wishing for rain. By the end of the weekend I'll be back to normal!

Same here, wonderful, has not stopped for last 4 hours and appears to have poured during the night, 4 Butts round the house are overflowing and we have
Puddles no sign of Noah or his Ark, but if this continues (yes please, give us more) he will be along soon ...... ;D
All that said, 2 inches down ground is dust dry
Dunno about rain, although it has been overcast and rainy here for about a week, both rain barrels full, but yesterday we had the most terrifically high winds, I did not go to teh plot this morning, I didn't dare, as I was afraid that everything would be blown away :-[
Hopefully it will be ok, but we can get some impressive winds here (only 50 km from the Atlantic coast ;D
Drizzling all day and the winds really getting up. ??? ;D ;D ;D

Then give it a couple of weeks and we'll have a hosepipe ban.
All the rain on our allotment site has gathered on my seedbed. Carrot, radish, rocket and beetroot seeds all now under about 3 inches of water :'( Much more forecast. :'( :'( :'(
Well so much for my new (ex rhubarb pulp) water butt. It had obviously gone in but then leaked out again around the tap. My son had crawled in the barrel to tighten the tap because he's long and thin but obviously hadn't got it tight enough so it has leaked out. It was very hard to tighten. Going to fit an 'o' ring seal on the inside to see if that helps it tighten.
Hi Kea
we had a similar problem last year using a recycled blue plastic storage barrel, what OH did was to take the tap off, apply generous amounts of silicone sealant to both inside edges of the barrel and tap, bolt the tap on and smooth excess off with a wet finger, leave for 24 hrs before connecting to guttering, hope this is of some help
:)
been up to the site today and someone has tried to unhook my waterbut and put it on there site.
I have dragged it back but the taps loose so all the rain has leaked out :'(
Going to have to go back tomorrow and fix it.
I know I risk being barred from this site but...............
I want the torrental rain and high winds to stop :o
after a week , my poor strawberries are threatening to give up
and die :(
my kids will hate me if this happens :(
They are still naive enough to think that I am a terrific gardener ;D ;D ;D

Just saw a pair of lilly beetles. Or does that not count? (they always seem to come in pairs).
They're obviously unclean animals, and they tend to come in regiments anyway. Be thankful for small mercies, and pray that they were both the same sex.
The rain is here in London - nice and sunny until we decided to go and take down a greenhouse that a friend has given us. We all go mighty wet so brought boys home and left my lovely husband taking out the panes of glass and hoping that it comes down ok. The sun is back out again do I risk going back to help? haha maybe in a short while. It looks mighty hard to take the alumuim frame apart I can see it not going back together.....
I've always thought it rains more in May than April, don't know why they call it April Showers ??? ......should be May showers.
Sunny spells this morning, now its aboulutely cat and dogging it down. ;D ;D ;D
Rained over here a little earlier but then stopped again & the sun is now out albeit weakly. It kept raining lightly yesterday on and off whilst I was up the plot but I wanted to get me beans in so just ignored it. Eventually it stopped but I was the only one up there.
It's definately made my plot a whole lot easier to dig. Only problem is that my waterbuts still are full so I say bring it on
CC
My plot's looking damp, but it's still relatively dry (not completely so) a few inches down. If the torrents they're promising in the next couple of days actually arrive, that'll sort it.
It was the May Fair in Richmond today, so it was bound to rain. Held off for the crowning of the May Queen and dancing around the Maypole and also for No. 1 son to parade around the Green as part of the Air Cadets band. It also held off long enough for us to get home, me to get changed and arrive at the lottie - then the heavens opened. :'(
In between the downpours I was out there digging and planting sweetcorn, managed to get 36 plants in but not time to get the seeds in. During the really heavy showers, I also managed to get the shed tidied up a bit.
More turbo digging tomorrow am :)
It has been good to us in Hull for the past few days, it rained well on the night on three occasions but was sunny during the day except for yesterday when it rained heavy at about 3pm,exactly as we were packing up from the lottie for the day clever rain eh. XX Jeannine
No rain yesterday, and I was too shattered to do much when I was on the allotment. Now I've had a rest, it's forecast to throw it down! But I'd rather have the rain right now.
Got to the plot early yesterday and did manage to get quite a lot done. had put the celery in a couple of days earlier and they were looking pretty smart. Tied the sweet peas up again. Got the fleece off the carrots and got a lovely surprise at the size of them. Put some posts in to hold the blackberries up that are growing on the vacant plot next to mine up the path. Thought they would be easier to pick.lol. Had taken the squash and cougettes up to plant but the rain came down and stopped play, so went home to do some more potting up and tidying up in the GH. My daughter didn't have such a good time of it. She got up there about an hour before the rain. Thank goodness for the reclaimed shed they put up. Are not even gonna think about going today apart from picking some sage and pulling a couple of seeded onions (guess what were having for dinner. and of course some spring greens. I'm going to Wilkies just to browse of course. Whatever you are all doing. ENJOY
The rain is here in Somerset! In a week, our plot has gone from being to hard to dig,to a bog! Managed to dig some spuds yesterday and dig a few feet, then the rain came in again. Sat in the shed witha cup of tea, and discovered that the roof leaked. Rained all yesterday afternoon, most of the night, and hasn't stopped yet!
Back to the knitting I think.
One question! Why does it always rain on our weekend off?
I got up really early yesterday - as rain forecast to come in by 11 am. I went straight to the lottie to set up the brassica bed - weed control fabric - plant summer caulis etc - construct cloche with timber/piping and cover with enviromesh. Finished at 11 am on the dot.
Came back home and blow me....it stayed dry all day. I could have had a lie in! :-\
It's raining cats and dogs here in Winchester. Oops, I just stepped in a poodle.
We have had lots here in Cleethorpes, we all got drenched on the seafront yesterday with the children..great fun as its not been cold, but not much good for allotmenting! Very wet under foot today but none pouring down so far...
Here in Herts we have had 7.6 inches of rain since the 22 nd January ... and I bet we have a hosepie ban in summer too !!!!! ::) ;D
We have a whole inch forecast on Met check by tomorrow morning... Raining now so in for a spot of lunch... then back out to get a couple of rows of Parsnips in... done 7 of Carrots! Then pricking out/potting on in the greenhoses!
;D
Went to lottie yesterday, put some bits in the shed but absolutely cat and dogged it, even sat in the car at the gates waiting for a break just to open and shut gate. Went over again this morning sowed some PSB, put up some netting and planted some PFA, ripped my 3/4 shorts, thunder lightening, heavy rain and walked home drenched and holding onto my ripped shorts keeping the old privates out of harms way that was my morning how was yours. :-[ :o :P ;D ;D ;D
planted out the runners, transplanted lots of different chinese leaves..thanks jeannine and pye, planted swede, kohl rabi in peat pots, sowed kohl rabi, radish, turnips, last 2 rows of carrots, beetroot..I pinched out the tomatoes and planted the melons..it started to rain when we came home ;D
Must have bin the sight of them there legs that brought the rain on Kev
Rained off here... come in and got dry clothes going back to work in the Greenhouses after a coffee...
;D
very very heavy here in south wales this morning. currently light but dark clouds ahead. if my water butts haven't filled up then they never will ;D

Thanks Greenscrump,
I was thinking of doing that as well. The problem now is my tall, thin son who could reach the bottom of the drum easily had an acident on his bicycle and took of large quantities of skin on his arm and knee and lots of bruising. So he can't do the job so now I will have to try and reach the bottom of the drum!
I think most of it is in Derby... I'm on my third set of now dry clothes..
;D
we've started with local flooding now..5 days ago, it was dry as dust !! ;D
It absolutely threw it down all afternoon. It seems to have stopped now, but looking at the lake in the road outside, we probably had at least an inch.
were on about 4-5 inches here i have a bucket in the garden i am marking the rain on.
Its been raining on and off here today but the problem is that the rain when it comes is heavy and its replaced my a strong wind when i left. Its only 5 degrees outside!!
Went up to the plot saturday and manged to get a couple of hours done but noticed on the way out that my water butt tap was leaking but 2 late to fix it :-(
I need to find the sealant in the garage tomorrow and get it fixed while there is still rain forcast i have however got anything that will hold water up there waiting to catch the drips on the opposite side of the shed where there is no butt fitted yet and in paths where the rains not needed to water anything!! So i should be able to pour the water back into the butt when the sealant drys.
where's the rain??? It's all here mate, where it has been bucketing down for 3 or 4 days!! ;D
No hope of any gardening this weekend ha ha, hopefully next weekend will do the trick for all the bits and bobs I want to do, including a second attempt with my pitiful peas.
getting loads of rain now, far too much, lol cant get on the plot, can only potter about in the shed and greenhouse.
LOADS here in Notts overnight ;D The next bit of sunshine and everything will go BOING ;D
Pity I forget to put the tarpaulin over the back of the pick-up truck last night and I've got a few holes in the house roof. Oh well ;D
Don't think it was the sight of my legs Shirlton, it was where my rip was situated :-[ get the drift. Still been raining here most of the day on and off. ;D ;D ;D
