Title: Finding space for squash
Post by: sand on May 06, 2007, 01:14:14
I'm a squash virgin, patiently waiting for my squash seeds to sprout and meanwhile wondering where on earth I'm going to put them in the veg garden.

I have a 4' square wooden open slatted compost container that is currently standing idle.  Do you think it would be feasible to plant inside it and trail the squash plants up and over the sides?

Yes should be fine. I grow some of my squashes in dustbins and they do very well so your container should be ideal.

I wanted to plant mine in open ground. I have some butternut and some pumpkin. Would that be okay? How far apart do they need to be planted?

Thanks all, will let you know how I get on!  Do I need to give much muck or anything?

The more you feed them the better. Well-rotted muck is ideal.
